A shuttle picked us up at the holiday park for a short ride to the cave. Ross was an amazing guide with a great sense of humor taking us on a tour of this amazing cave. It was breathtaking and interesting and awesome and the 2 hours was way too short as we could've spent a lot more time in... More

Waitomo Caves offers a shuttle van to take guests the 10 minute drive from the Visitors’ centre to Ruakuri Cave. Visitors can of course drive themselves to Ruakuri Cave carpark and wait for the guide. The tour lasts approximately two hours. To enter the cave you walk down through an impressive man made spiral entrance way. The guide will then... More

Maybe the best cave in Waitomo. Our two hour tour was over too fast! Our guide Mika (sp?) was fantastic - really knew her stuff and had a great kiwi sense of humour. If you only have time for one cave, Ruakuri is the one! It is the biggest and has a great variety of different formations. The Spiral at... More

You are driven to the entrance of the cave and once inside you are met with this huge spiral walkway going down very deep into the cave system. It was an easy walk. Our guide was very informative, the limestone caves were spectacular. The walkways were easy to manage. The glowworms were great. After this trip I felt that going... More

We came here mainly because we wanted to visit the famous gloworm cave. This cave is alright as well if you have time in the Waitomo area. The thing I liked the most is that is quite deep and massive compared with the others.

This is a great tour of limestone caves and also the Glowworm cave area. The pathways are all either paved or on platforms. Lighting enhances the exhibits. The guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Families will like this.

As part of "Experience the Trilogy" package, we visited the Ruakuri Caves and the Glowworm Caves. Our first stop was the Ruakuri Caves 2hrs. One word - Awesome! Our guide, a woman called Brady or Brandy (apologies for not getting the name right) was passionate, very informative, fun and full of energy. Contrary to my expectations, the caves were well... This was exactly as it was advertised, a 1.5 hr easy walk going over the basis of the cave and how delicate the formations are. I felt the tour guide was a bit bored, and seemed to be going through the motions, even though we were the first group of the day. If you've been to other caves (limestone or... More

The Ruakuri Cave tour experience was both enjoyable and interesting and well set up for tourists with a lovely cafe back at base with healthy lunch options for kids. Dom was our tour guide and was very passionate about the caves and their history and I liked that it was more relaxed/less driven by copyright than the glowworm caves tour... More
