Not much to see about this project but you see their work on all the beaches as they mark all the turtle nests and restrict beach access at certain hours when the turtles are nesting. Keep up the good work

Beautiful sponsored project, but by the looks of it Petrobras, the main sponsor, has too much of its resources tied-up in the major fraud investigation it is under at the moment. The exhibits are run-down, the signs are not updated, and the place definitely needs some maintenance and up-keep. Don't get me wrong, they do a wonderful job protecting the... More

I urge you to check with this Turtle project when you first get to the island. They have a very educational display at their site in the middle of the island and several times each week you might have the chance to see them working with the turtles , depending on what is going on at that time of year.... This project is probably the most successful of environmental and animals conservation in Brazil. There is a good daily different talking program on related subjects which is worth listening to, at the Tamar project premises. I listened to dolphin, and local plants talks and learned quite a lot. The video films presented are of special interest and enrich the talks.... More

Witnessing the birth of sea turtles on the beach was one of the best experience ever, it is good to support them going to visit the centre as they really do a good job!

They schedule turtle identifications on the beach and you can go and watch (also hear a little talk). It was very nice. Also I visited the tree nursery (which was not a usual visit, but they did us a favor).

We were astounded to see them in action on Sueste Beach. They brought in two different species of turtles, and many of each type. They collected DNA samples and then tagged them, and released them back into the water. There was a film crew there as well. They were intent on informing others about the merits of marine ecology. I... More

They give lectures about marine life and the island, so be sure to pay a visit to the center. There are many fossils of marine animals and you can shop for souvenirs on the TAMAR's store.

it is a very small exhibition. nothing comparable to praia do forte in salvador; so dont spend you time there. only if you want to support them and visit the Tamar shop.
