Owner description: Conducting Responsible Whale Shark Tours, Research & Conservation in Holbox Island, Mexico. Every year, although usually solitary, whale sharks congregate around Holbox Island between June and September, when the ocean becomes especially plankton rich. They are at 25 to 40 miles of distance. For this reason we use a very SAVE AND FAST SPECIAL BOAT with 2 motors 300HP each (600HP). You’ll be traveling in small groups from 6 to 10 people maximum a day. We provide all snorkeling equipment including WET SUIT (way better than the life jacket) to make your in-water experience safe and confortable. Reserve Your Tour Now Available also Exclusive Private Charters This is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE, enjoy it!

We came to Holbox to swim with the whale sharks and stayed a week going out to swim with them six times. This trip costs a bit more than the other tours but is worth it since the boat is faster than the other tour boats and gets you out to the whales and back much quicker. Andres and Leo... More

I really really wanted to be able to rate this trip with 5 circles. The booking was easy, the boat clean, fast and comfy. The guides knowledgable, well spoken. We started the day getting onto the boat at the nearby pier, headed out for a long trip to the blue water where we encountered at least 50 whalesharks!! What an... More

Safe, outstanding equipment, excellent crew, constant communications with the Hotel, excellent food, great ride and speed, since you are going to open waters, this boat and the speed will get you there faster, safer and with a much better ride that what the others have. Expensive? I would pay the difference, just for the time it takes to get there... More

I have been on several Whale shark excursions, I have used most everyone. I will never go with anyone other than Leo and Andreas again. They give you very good guidance and as much time as you want with the whales. Most important they have the most comfortable boat and since it only hold 8 people it is less crowded... More

We chose Mawimbi Whale Shark Tours for several reasons during a mid-July visit to Holbox. I’ll try to provide as comprehensive an assessment of the tour as possible. As of July 2013, the Mawimbi whale shark tour is priced at US $140/pp. Mawimbi Whale Shark Tours cost more than the other local Holbox whale shark tours (they were priced at... More

My wife and I did one tour with another highly rated outfit on Saturday which was amazing but the boat was old and many of the boats in his fleet had older outboard motors. We had no problems. We did the Mawimbi tour with Andreas as our guide on Tuesday and with their more comfortable boat with two 300 hp... More

As a hesitant participant, I ended up having a great experience. The seas being rough, I was glad to have had a GRAVOL before the trip, but the captain was good and the guide (Andres) was very conscientious and calming. The day started out with a light breakfast provided by Mawimbi, a debreifing, and we were off. I cant imagine... More

My boyfriend and I live in Playa del Carmen, and never had the chance to go to swim with the whale sharks before. We looked after so many options departing from Holbox which by the way is a beautiful place. Finally, I found Mawimbi Whale Sharks Tour, my first thought was: Why would it cost more than all the others?... More

My wife was reluctant to do any of the whale shark tours because of her lack of comfort with the ocean. We spoke to a few people and many referred mawimbi as the place with the best boat. It is the fastest and most comfortable. Which is important when you are traveling 90-120 min each way. The guide was wonderful... More
