Swimming with the whale sharks was a truly amazing experience that I'll never forget. We booked this tour in 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen at Ecotours and payes 120$ for it (at our hotel it would have been 215$ and there were people on our boat who had payed between 180-225$; I also met someone who has payed only... I swam with the whale sharks in july and it was amazing, you can book with anybody in town, a good price is about $75-100 and everyone gets the same tour. You get to swim with the whale sharks and manta rays until your tired then off to mosquito point where you will chill out and have some good ceviche.... More

We're generally hesitant going on tourist tours but went on a whale shark tour when staying on Holbox (there's not a lot of other things to do). It's supposed to be incredible but we thought it was boring and extremely touristy. Sure it was kind of nice seeing the whale sharks and swimming with them but it lasted about 10... More

My experience was okay, although not great. I felt it was more about the photo op than actually swimming with the whale sharks. The whale sharks are constantly swimming and due to their size move quite fast, so you do need some pretty fast swimming skills in order to really get up close and interact with them. You are also... Swimming with the whale Sharks was amazing. The tour company I used was called Glendy, great service and fun people. Best ceviche I have ever eaten ( I was pretty hungry ) they also provided sandwiches and refreshments. We saw Flamingos and lots of dolphins jumping along side the boat. Alberto was our guide on the island great kid, honest... More

We had an amazing day, with an amazing guide, SYNTHIA, Captain, MARCELO, and marinero,BERNARDO. Met up with 3 different Whale sharks, and swam side by side with them. We were lucky, I guess to have calm waters which made the trip so enjoyable. Besides the swim with these amazing we saw Turtles, dolphins which were playing right besides the boat,... More

We booked a private boat with RAUL and ELMER, who are by far the best in the buisness! We had a short briefing before we went on the boat, where we were told that we needed a wetsuit or neoprene shirt to go in the water, something that wasn't mentioned in the information they sent us when we booked (so... Even though we had rough seas from a storm coming in.....I would do this again in a heartbeat! The guides were very helpful and professional. They observed the rules of only allowing 2 passengers in the water at a time. It is better to take a smaller boat so you aren't waiting too long for your turn. In case of... More
