We went on the next-to-last day of the whale shark season (season lasts from June to mid-September). The ocean was really spiky and a lot of people in our group got very sick. The two 2-minute swims with these beautiful, peaceful, large animals made the whole endeavor very rewarding.

We paid 140 usd per person to snorkel with these magnificent gentle giants on the 15th of June 2014. The visibility was rather poor, only about 3m however they said it was because of all the plankton that attracts the whale sharks to feed on. Nonetheless, there were approximately 40 whale sharks in the area we stopped at and we... More

An incredible adventure from beautiful Isla Holbox in Mexico. See sea turtles, sting rays, dolphins and the amazing whale sharks. Swimming alongside a 35 foot fish is a total rush and you only need snorkle gear as they graze the surface.

Honestly, i dont think it matters who you go with... if you see a Whale Shark, it will undoubtedly be an incredibly special experience. However, we can HIGHLY recommend Willys tours on Isla Holbox. They offer the experience at a great price and yet give you the best experience possible. Our guide was just fantastic, Eddy, really loves what he... More

The reason for our trip to Isla Holbox was to see whale sharks and because they are visiting here between May and September, this is an opportunity to see Manta Rays also. Just a fantastic location to see them both in the water and from a boat. Your choice. Isla Holbox is not an easy destination to get to. We... More

Thank you Nestor and Locho for making our whale shark experience as great as possible. We saw tons and tons of sharks over 2-days, enjoyed fresh ceviche off the beach of Isle Mujeures and had a great great time! Knowledgable and dedicated crew made all the difference.

Swimming with the whale sharks was a truly amazing experience that I'll never forget. We booked this tour in 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen at Ecotours and payes 120$ for it (at our hotel it would have been 215$ and there were people on our boat who had payed between 180-225$; I also met someone who has payed only... I swam with the whale sharks in july and it was amazing, you can book with anybody in town, a good price is about $75-100 and everyone gets the same tour. You get to swim with the whale sharks and manta rays until your tired then off to mosquito point where you will chill out and have some good ceviche.... More

We're generally hesitant going on tourist tours but went on a whale shark tour when staying on Holbox (there's not a lot of other things to do). It's supposed to be incredible but we thought it was boring and extremely touristy. Sure it was kind of nice seeing the whale sharks and swimming with them but it lasted about 10... More
