Torre del Candeliere is a short 10 minute walk up hill (just go uphill and you will find it) from the main square and duomo of Massa. It is definitely worth your time even if you are not a history buff. It dates back nearly 1,000 years and you can see the various stages of construction as different foes of... More

It's a steep climb up to the top, but the views (with helpful guides telling you what you're seeing) are well worth it.

Once you have climbed the narrow staircase to the top, you are welcomed by views of the Rolling hills of Tuscany. If you love Tuscany just as I do then one should make it a point to get there, as this city quaint in its own way.

The views over Volterra, the surrounding countryside and over to the coast and Elba were excellent. It was great to be able to point out all the places that we'd seen and where we'd walked. Care needs to be taken going up and down, but this should not put you off.

If you are in this lovely town, certainly visit it, but by itself, it is not worth the trip. It and many other small, picturesque sites and views make the town worth a detour.

I have visited the "Torre" for the third time (at least) and again I was impressed by the perfect view you have. You get the best overview over the historic centre of Massa and - at clear days - you can see even beyond Elba. To get up the tower you have to take a few stairs - an experience... More

let it be this one. Lovely town and the views from this tower out towards Elba are superb. Then head for a day at the beach at Cala Violina for a closer look!
