My wife and I have recently taken a whirlwind tour of Italy visiting Florence , Siena and Pisa . During this trip we were advised to visit Castello di Meleto . We had been told that this was to provide not only breathtaking scenery but the finest Chianti Classico in the whole region. We were met by the tour guide... More

We have been traveling to Tuscany for nearly 20 years and our tour of Castello di Meleto was wonderful. Anthony was not only a knowledgable host but a helpful and friendly guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and have revealed over the wine we sent home. We can't wait to return for more! More

During our October 2010 visit to Castello di Meleto we were greeted and warmly welcomed by Anthony Freveletti. From the very first moment of making eye contact with him we immediately knew that we wanted Anthony to be our tour guide of Castello di Meleto. Usually you know within the first few minutes of meeting a tour guide whether or... More

First we were late. We thought we had a later time and when we arrived they indicated we missed our time. Despite our mistake, Anthony graciously said he would stay. That acceptance turned out to be one of the best wine tasting events the 7 of us ever had. Anthony (from Chicago!!) provided a wonderful overview of the winery and... More

Although we were right on time (16.30) for a guided visit of the castle, the two ladies at the reception were very busy on the telephone, without taking notice of us. Because we were tired of waiting for attention, we asked one of these ladies when the guided tour started. She said that guided tours are given on other moments... More

This was our 3rd visit to Chianti in less than year. Again we stayed in Casa dell Olio, in Borgo Montefienali, and loved it (see my previous review on this site - definitely to be recommended if you want a self-catering break in a picturesque, tranquil location). Again we visited the surrounding, picturesque hillside towns and hamlets and loved it.... More

We found the Castle fascinating. It was our first stay at a Castle. The rooms were spacious, but sparsely furnished. We were a bit surprised to find the heat in the Castle was provided by in-room kerosene heaters. Aside from the smell of the Kerosene heaters that seemed to overwhelm the room, going to the bathroom located just outside the... More

We got married at Pieve Di Santa Maria A Spaltenna and our entire wedding party stayed at Castello di Meleto. It was an amazing experience! The Castle is incredibly beautiful and centrally located in the Chianti Region. Make sure to also go to Solissimo Restaurant, which is part of the Lucignano Castle (http://www.castellodilucignano.com/). Chef Lorenzo is amazing and the service... More

We stayed at the Castle in September 2007 on our honeymoon. the staff is unwelcoming and not helpful at all. the grounds of the castle are beautiful, and the room #4 in the castle is fair. It is not very clean or safe. Tiles from the shower fell on my husband's foot and put a big gash in it. The... More

Stayed in a one bedroom self-catering apartment, Limonaia 1, on the grounds of Castello di Meleto for the last week of April, 2007. We found the accommodation to be charming, of a high standard, clean, and so romantic! Our own little patio with table and chairs overlooked the breathtakingly beautiful Chianti countryside. There is so much to visit close by,... More
