In 1577 Ludovico Capponi restored the castle and commissioned Bernardino Poccetti, important painter, to fresco the loggia of the court. Production of wine is documented from 1596 on and until today we preserve the tradition and in our vineyards grow exclusively tuscan grape varieties which were used for high quality wines. « less

It just doesn't get any lovelier than this. We couldn't have enjoyed our time, or the views, or the wine, or the hospitality, more than we did!

Visited the winery with a small group. Greeted warmly upon arrival by a charming young lady who spoke impeccable English. She was the fourth generation of her family to have worked at the vineyard. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the winery, the process from harvest to bottling, and the pairing of wines with food. After the tour... More

My wife & I and friends of ours (another couple) recently did a tour of Castello della Panaretta and it was one of the absolute highlights of our entire trip! The castle and the grounds are spectacular and the wine tour was brilliant. Patrizia gave us a terrific education in the entire process from growing to harvesting to fermenting, casking... More

As soon as we arrived we felt instantly welcomed. Chiara, our guide, welcomed us at the door and started the tour. She spoke excellent English and talked us through the wine making process. She answered any of our questions. The tour also included a history of the castle. Chiara showed us into the castle, down through the cellars and then... More

What a wonderful lunch and tour. Chiara our guide was well informed and delightful. We felt like family by the time we left. We even met the gracious son and wife of the owner on our way out. We felt like we had made new friends.

My husband and I are avid wine drinkers. We appreciate good wine and are fans of Chianti. We started our visit to this winery/castle with a greeting by a beautiful young woman. She gave us a simple tour of the stainless steel barrels and provided us a history of the castle and the vineyard. We learned about the importance of... More

The staff at Catello della Panoretta were warm, welcoming and truly gracious. We travelled with our 2 sons - one in his 20's and the other, 14. We enjoyed a wine tasting at the castle and this was tailored for our young teenage son. No big group, no pressure, just a wonderful afternoon in the castle's dining room. The staff... More

This is a belated review. My wife and I enjoyed a very simple wine tour in August 2011 -- and we were blown away by the wine. It's a simple, family-run estate that truly prides itself on making authentic chianti wine (with authentic italian grapes, not blends with foreign grapes). All chiantis are not the same, and all are not... More
