On a clear day you can see the sea. On your way up, beware of locals shoving your way. They will show you, what they claim is a shortcut and then ask for Money.Way Down is uncomplicated.Walking on the tracks, you can hear the train in the far distance. There is several small Places, where you can get a nice... More

The Ella Rock walk/climb involves several hours so be prepared to spend some time. You will enjoy the nostalgia of walking along the train tracks from Ella to the small Buddhist temple on your left just after the metal bridge. You may need a local to guide you through the winding paths until you get to the bottom of the... More

Thankfully some people have published hand drawn maps about how to get up to Ella Rock. They help a little bit, but it is still tricky. Why? Because it seems to be the only aim of many local guides to make visitors get lost on the way up, so that they can suddenly jump out of nowhere to "rescue" you.... More

The hike to top of the Ella Rock isn't a easy one. Trail isn't that clear and it's easy to get lost, so maybe you want to hire a guide to walk along. Though the guides usually don't speak that good english and won't be much of a help when it comes to hiking skills. It takes about 2 hours... More

I advice bring a bottle of water with you. Be ready for a lovely adventure, and charge your camera, because you will use it.

Nice Hike, with great views. Tip: when you get off the rail track, you'll find a small bridge. If you go down, you will find yourself on the top of the waterfall.

I would recommend everyone, especially families with children, to start the hike a little bit earlier. We started at around 9am and it was quite hot walking along railway track. It could be easy to find your own way to the top, but getting a guide ease up tough decision when you get to the crossroads. We hiked with two... More

The place is amazing, but if you plan not to spend money for a guide Do Not follow their direction advises! We had a good map, but we follow them few times and we got lost. If you follow other tourists with guide, the guide will stop ask you where you go and give you wrong direction so to get... More
