If you don't know the path it's better to look for a guide before starting than let you help by the "guides" that you find during the hiking. Some of them will show you longer ways and will ask you for high amount of money (despite saying that they don't want anything at the beginning)

Nice 3-4 hour round hiking with beautiful views. We liked it actually more than Little Adam's pick but when we did it, the weather was good. Be careful with local " guides" that initially mislead and offer their help after that.

Unfortunately we had bad weather so couldn't appreciate the view when we eventually made it to the top. Pretty hard to get on the right path initially and we encountered a big snake and a fair few leeches. The way back down was much simpler as we came through the tea plantations and followed the trainline back to town. Would... More

Not so good in the rain but well worth the effort. Very good views of the Ella Gap. Be aware that if its low cloud and misty you will not a view.

Ella Rock offers a nice view over the valley and Ella itself, and you can see other landmarks like Little Adam's Peak as well. It's just a little hard to find. There are no signs and you will meet many so-called "guides" who are hard to shake off. They will take you to the Rock alright, but will demand a... More

I've been hiking the trail alone and was surprised that so many people I met on my way, have taken a guide. Ok, in the beginning it's a bit tricky to find the right track, becouse it branches sometimes. But one can ask in this case some local farmers. Most of them will point you to the right way without... A really nice hike from our hotel Zion - walk along the tracks, hike up through tea plantation and get the feel for various different plants. You will sweat and enjoy the walk because the view at the top is awesome!

Go Early morning. Ella Rock is about an hour and half hike up the mountain side. Its best to go early morning or you might miss the views due to clouds sneaking in. Though I was surrounded by clouds, there were times when the clouds broke up and gave me a glance of the view. Nonetheless, the clouds do give... More
