We didn't have an adequate map and got lost, it was a rough hike for us even though we are pretty active and love hiking. A local man ended up helping us, we gave him some money afterwards to thank him.

We reach ella at about 1 plus and decided to see the ella rock. Our driver help to ask directions from the locals and off we go. The directions are confusing as we did not know which way to go. We ask a few people along the way and manage to walk around the railways. Along the way like the... More

This rock was close to the hotel I was staying at. The entry required walking on train tracks which was a lot of fun. The walk and the climb is moderate. There are some parts which tire you out but overall it is fun. The view is amazing especially from the top.

The hike isn't too long, make sure to plan out your route. We took a screen sht of a traveler's map from our guesthouse, but many people hire guides, which aren't necessary. Two routes up and down, we chose the steep route up, which is shorter and the longer switchback route down. All good! At the top, you can buy... More

We started walking at 7:30 (from Country Homes guesthouse) and I'm glad we did as it meant we could enjoy a peaceful breakfast at the summit with no one else in sight. As we walked down there were a lot more people heading up so I can imagine it getting busy. Obviously, starting early also means a much cooler walk.... More

The climb to Ella Rock is extremely rewarding, and I think half the fun is trying to work out where on earth you are going. There's no harm in getting a little lost, and we enjoyed the freedom of trekking without a guide. On your way up, you will notice that someone has painted arrows in blue paint pointing you... More

The hike is about 45 minutes from Kithal Ella railway station, if you are on a good pace..But don't hurry, take the time to explore..This got great views of Little Adam's Peak from the NE viewpoint. The trail would continue towards the SE side to the viewpoint from which you could see the top part of Ravana Ella.

I liked the trek was short (easily done in 2-3 hours) and the view was also great. Sometimes the trek was a bit off the path and steep. Make sure to bring 2 big bottles of water. There are lots of places suitable for a watering break.

I enjoyed the climb. It was well worth it as the view at the top is breathtaking. There's also a man at the top who sells tea which we really enjoyed. The entire trip took about approx. four hours. We got a little lost on the way and had a guide come to our rescue as we couldn't find the... More

Great walk up the train line and then upwards to the rock. Pretty challenging near the top but views well worth it.
