This was a fantastic walk. Start on the railway in the main town and walk along the railway tracks for maybe 2km. Then it's a little confusing where to turn off - we heard there was a sign but we didn't see it. There was a tree with some flags tied round it, co e off the tracks here. Then... More

The peak of Ella rock is approx 5km from Ella center. Most of the walk is along flat railway track or gentle slope. The last half km is steeper. There are great views all along the way and you can see Little Adam's peak about half way across. Now the route which I found easiest to follow: Keep walking along... More

I liked all the hike - the lower part on the rails...) between houses and plantations. if you don't have the strength - you don't have to climb to the top. do it part way. If you can - it is a pleasant hike to the top, and nice views.

We left about 10-ish and followed the directions on TA. We walked the railway tracks and then went off into the tea plantation etc. We were not approached to ask if we wanted a guide, but there were many locals on the tracks. It is a steady eddie climb up through the plantation until you get to the ridge, from... More

Steep but very do-able walk o stunning views. You can get there on your own especially if you have a decent GPS map on your phone - why not stop at one of the little cafes next to the rail tracks on your way back for refreshments? We did - perfect!

Walking up Ella Rock is a must-do whilst in the area & a very beautiful view from the top. However, we tried to follow the route in our Rough Guide book which was very overgrown & ended up being told by a local farmer that we'd gone the wrong way. He then insisted on showing us the way & demanded... More

This place above Little Adam's peak. If you go over the cliff to opposite side of Ella by path, several minutes, you find good viewpoint to Big Rawana waterfall.

I followed the directions below where the guy states to go down a path before the black bridge n found these directions unnecessarily difficult (sorry not a jibe just being honest). Here's what I believe to be an easier route:  head long the train tracks away from town. to get to the tracks... If you are at the junction which... More

Although you do need a certain standard of fitness this walk was one of the highlights of our holiday. We took it very slowly and it was a 5 hour return trip from Ella town. The walk along the railway track was a first for us, couldn't do that in Britain! Great views of the waterfall and we passed many... More
