Amazing hike and views. A magic part of Sri Lanka that is really away from it all. Beautiful people and scenery make this a great day trip.

This was a tiring climbed. I got a local boy to come up with me for a fee, and we rushed up the rock in 1 hour from Ella. It usually takes 3 hours from what I heard. The view is good from the tip of the rock, though not as wide as that from little Adam's peak. Still worth... More

this is an interesting walk and well worth it. the only thing marring it are the locals that seem like they're trying to help you with directions who then demand money. the only places where you might go wrong are when you get off the train track and cross the bridge over the river. you should then bear left up... Ella rock was quite a walk, about 2 hours up and 1.5 down but it was definitely worth it for the spectacular view over Ella gap and even as far as the sea on the east coast! We tried walking it alone using some written instructions we found online but ended up asking a local chap for directions. Obviously this... More

Go early in the morning otherwise it is to croudy and to warm. Good to see the fresco's and the palace of the King. Take good shoes and water with you.

Very steep towards the end but awesome things to see the whole way there. The top was fabulous and it was worth carrying the baby up there. Dont wear flip flops though, i broke my toe coming down.

a little tricky to find the trail, but with a map from our guesthouse, we didn't need a guide. the view from the top is spectacular. sometimes the mist rolls in but, in our case, it would come and go so it was quite dramatic

i climbed ella rock alone, without a guide. on the way down, i joined a group with a guide and realized how i got lost. so here's how to get to ella rock: 1. from the ella railway station, walk towards the direction of colombo-bound trains (that is to your left). continue walking until you pass the bridge and you...
