Such a lovely evening! We learnt to cook 4 delicious curries and share these with new friends. Our teacher was wonderful with quirky jokes, excellent English and so much patience. The kitchen was clean and well equipped and we learnt all about tools for cutting coconuts and grating them, that I have never seen and may never again. We left... More

Small beautiful garden with the typical spices of Sri Lanka. The guide shows and exlpaines you the different spices and how they grow.

My boyfriend and I had heard about this cooking class through a friend who had been 2 years earlier, which only goes to show how popular it is! The young guy who runs it does it in his own house and is both friendly and helpful. He takes classes of 8 people at a time and you all take it... More

We had seen the recommendations in our Tourist Guide and on tripadvisor, so we went there in the morning and booked the lesson for the same evening. When we came back at 5 pm we met Chandika, the son of the family and the teacher, and 5 other tourists interested in cooking. After having some tea while getting a short... More

The cooking class by Chandika was very informative and fun all the way from the beginning up to eating everything we cooked. We paid 2000 rupies per person and I believe it was a fair price for the experience.

We did the cooking class for 2000 rupees each. The young guy who took the class was funny and the 3 hours flew by. So informative and we got to eat the food. We took a few beers along and had a fantastic night.... Would definitely recommend.

after walking up to the Ella rock we were thinking how to spend our evening in Ella and decided to take a cooking class at the spice garden. It was a very fun evening. The class was very informative and our teacher was doing a great job, taking time to explain, leaving enough time to take notes and try what... More

So yes, it is a trap to sell you stuff but there is lots of interesting information provided and you are not compelled to purchase. Nice massage and samples of medicines are provided.

My three friends and I attended Chandika's house for a lunch time cooking class. The recipes and guidance were great and Chandika's approach to teaching was wonderful. Truly recommend this

a nice introduction to the different spices. We made a potato curry, a garlic curry, dhal, coconut sambal and pappadums I think. It was a nice experience with everything provided but the food was definitely nothing like the best food we had in Sri Lanka. Average at best.
