I think that Ella is a tourist town established to serve this waterfall It is a big waterfall with small pools were you can swim...

The fall is slightly overrated. Situated near the main road in the city and often very crowded. Rather swim in the falls in a jungle like Sinharaja Rain forrest.

its a waterfall with domestic tourists washing themselves at the bottom. A few blokes trying to sell you souvenirs, not much to see. If your driving past, sure, get out and have a look but its nothing worth a special trip. Unfortunately after checking out little Adams peak in Ella there's not much else to do. Lovely countryside though.

We decided to walk to the waterfall from our hotel in Ella as the sign said 6km and we like a challenge. Unfortunately, it is a main road with beeping cars, no footpath, dangerously winding roads, sheer drops and blistering heat. Plus we looked it up when we got back and it was 11km. Each. Way. Once there we had... More

We visited as we had a couple of hours spare in Ella and took the local bus down the hill and then back up again. Just ask the driver to drop you at the falls and then flag one down to get back up! Be warned its a very creaky old bus but seemed reasonably safe... I would not recommended... More

We went in the morning, I think we probanly should have gone a bit earlier as it was pretty busy. A little but intimidating as it was full of men having their morning wash. The waterfall itself was very pretty but there was some rubbish about, babies nappies etc.

Located on the main road to Yala NP, the scenic Ravana Falls is a must stop. Its a big falls and tourist can take a bath in the falls too. Beware of hawkers and monkeys.

Nice waterfall for the view. But a bit busy and not very clean. But even that it's not clean a lot of local people swim there.

Its a nice waterfall, but it was so crowded! Be very careful when you walk on wet rocks, as they are incredibly slippery. I climbed to the next level of the fall and there is a beautiful pool up there, but one needs to be careful as one bad move could have disastrous consequences.
