The falls are worth seeing and we particularly liked watching all the local kids playing in the water. Be aware of touts trying to sell rocks!!!! They can be very pushy. There are quit a lot of monkeys around as well and are a constant source of amusement.

We saw Ravana Falls as we were on our way from Nuwara Elia to Yala. Its a great view and a great stop from driving around. Be careful from people selling things at this stop, they are very persistent. There were also monkeys nearby :) Locals were bathing / washing clothes here :) All in all, its great view :)

its not very big or fast flowing, but its on the main road so its easy to get to. there are other waterfalls that are more spectacular if you are prepared to travel further afield

Pretty little place, worth stopping. It's right off the main road. Wild monkeys were nearby. Watch out for vendors selling junk at high prices. We warned climbing near the falls can be dangerous.

Nice waterfall, probably nicer in high monsoon season, with lots of people bathing and visiting. All surrounded by food and souvenir stalls with inevitable rubbish. For a short stop only.

If you like places that are covered in rubbish, have dodgy souvineer stalls and you like swimming in water with people who are bathing, doing their washing, cleaning their teeth and worse this is the place for you. This reasons for this are the lack of infrastructure in Sri Lanka for water reticulation, sanitation and rubbish collection and disposal. This... More

Waterfall is just next to the Ella - Wellawaya main road. Breathtakingly beautiful waterfall. It comes with lots of legendary stories related to King Ravana. Very dangerous to bath in the waterfall.

A beautiful fall with the road crossing it. Even when water levels are low it's worth a look as the rocks are lovely.

We stopped here briefly to photograph the falls which are lovely and very popular. Beware of the traffic wardens who will fine you 50 rupees (not much I know) for posting in the wrong spot. The falls are quite high and only a few kilometres below Ella Gap towards Ella town.
