It is a beautiful beach with a combination of some locals and a lot of tourists who kite board. The water is very very shallow though, os it is not very ideal for swimming. But enjoying laying out under the African sun and maybe play some football with the local kids.

Paje beach is the picture postcard perfect white sand paradise beach! Popular with kite surfers it has a little more vibe and cool edge than other beach locations. Top tip stay a little away from the centre hotels if you like peace and quiet and to swim without kite surfers flying overhead!

Lovely, empty beach during daytimes...ideal for kitesurfing, as the water in the laguna is very shallow. When the tide is out, the water goes back about 1km. Good to know for non-kiters, the kitesurfer are supposed to stay within an area which leave plenty of space for everyone. Also, there are very few beach boys trying to sell you something... More

Absolutely one of the finest beaches I have experienced. Clean white sand without any pollution. You can walk and run barefooted without any risk of being injured by sharp objects.

I loved the wind, sun and sea! What's to dislike really? White beaches, warm sea (used to the cold water of the pacific in SA) and the peacefulness of everything and everybody! Phole-phole indeed!

The beach itself is wonderful; the sea not so much as the water is very warm and there are quite a lot of seaweeds that make swimming a little unpleasant, although it seems to be good for your skin. I had the opportunity to swim with two young Masai boys and we splashed and laughed a lot.

I booked a hotel in Stone Town and visited this beach for a day. Unfortunately, the the tide rose only around 4pm and it was already too late to turn back to the stone town avoiding the rush hours. I did not like the beach, I found dirty, deserted and I could not swim and snorkling.

A fantastic beach - warm water; pale, fine sand; great kitesurfing at high and low tide; and a few really relaxed, low-intensity, chilled bars, restaurants, and hotels/b&bs along the beach. This is kite-surfing heaven.

Stayed at Kitete beach bungalows and had Hamid as the hotel manager. I can't say enough good things about Kitete beach and Hamid's service. Plenty of places to eat, great white sand beach, tide rolls out a quarter mile at lowest tides. I went to kite surf, definitely bring 10-16 meter kites. Windiest months are Jan and Feb and it...
