A nature aqauarium made within the rocks houses turtle and fish. If you are staying there you are able to swim with them or pay to swim with them. These are orphaned Turtles which would not survive in the wild. You can get to feed them and they get up close. Great if you want to see nature.

This is a nice little place trying to do a lot of good. There's not much there, just a glorified pond really but the turtles are really something! They collect the eggs from the beach near Nungwi and raise the tiny turtles until they are old enough to survive in the ocean. There is a huge whale skeleton as well... More

What was really nice visiting the Aquarium is that it is walking distance from the hotel. It is worthwhile to visit the Aquarium during your stay at Nungwi.

I really enjoyed my visit here. The organisation works hard to save the endagered turtles by working with local fishermen. In addition to visitor tour fees and donations, they have a number of thoughtful revenue streams to fund their conservation work. In contrast to some of the views below, I found it impressive (considering the available resources) and value for... More

This is a very local effort to save endangered hawksbill and other turtles off the north tip of Zanzibar. We walked along the shore to it from our hotel and were not really sure if we had found the right place. Signage and who you pay are a bit casual to say the least, but our guide once we had... More

Very small area with a few turtles and small alligators. The area doesn't look in great condition, but it does seem to be the best which can be done within the limit of local funding. We were able to feed the turtles which was fun and is the main reason for my review score. When you pay for the local... More

They buy from fisherman the turtles they catch on nets. Keep them there until the turtles get better from any disease and on 20th February, every year, they bring them back to sea. Nice project! You can feed the turtles with sea grass, nice experience!
