We visited Wanaka for the skiing but not much snow so we searched for alternative entertainment! Being ardent foodies this Taste of Central tour fitted the bill perfectly. This was a full day of tempting treats starting with canopies and wine tastings at a gorgeous little vineyard, onto Cromwell famous for its stone fruit for more tastings of goodies, then... More

Very comfortable travel, and a very friendly guide. Having visited various wineries and a very tasty platter lunch with amazing views, John offered the option of more winery visits or a trip to Arrowtown. Fudge, homemade pastry pies, beer tasting and spectacular Arrowtown scenery completed a wonderful day, thanks John. May I also recommend to visitors of Wanaka the Cheeky... More

I sometimes chaff at organised tours as they can at times dawdle along too slow or race too fleetingly, but John's pace throughout our half day wine tour was perfect. We visited a number of wineries in the Cromwell and Bannockburn area, some of them my favourites, some I hadn't ventured to before. Plus we stopped for a leisurely lunch... More

gilzoizner, thanks for your recommendation. John has travelled extensively but choose to settle in Wanaka 13 years ago. He and our other guides share a real passion for this area, they really enjoy finding out about guests particular interests and using their local and broader knowledge to make sure everyone gets the best experience possible. On our Wanaka stopover, we booked a half day wine tour with Lonely Mountain Tours. It was a bit more expensive than some of the others but we discovered that the transport was very comfortable, the tour was longer and a scrummy lunch was included! We had a chilled afternoon trying out the all the wines at four different vineyards... More
