Chris took my girlfriend, Naomi, and myself out to Mou Waho about three weeks ago on the morning of Saturday July 5. I was inspired. Chris' knowledge of the indigenous history of New Zealand and the introduction of white man and his animals, allowed my perspective of New Zealand change, from a naive tourist's look, to a conservationist's. I highly... More

Unfortunately due to the calm conditions of the lake we caught one fish. However not With a lack of trying from our guide Chris. Had a lovely time with him and some giggles. Thank you so much. Would recommend this to everyone!!!

A fantastic day on the lake with Chris to the island Mou Waho. A short hike up the island to another lake with superb mirror reflections - lots of stories, history of the area, explanations of the flora and fauna and of course entertainment by the rare buff weka. A cuppa at the top of the island while taking in... More

3.5 hours gets you a set of excellent experiences with the Mou Waho visit. The boat trip is itself a scenic treat, transported at good pace past majestic mountains to a remote and tranquil leafy paradise. The island is a haven for protected wildlife, featuring the flightless weka - so obviously endangered by its guileless curiosity (one wandered and poked... More

We had a most delightful morning with Chris Riley on his boat traveling to Mou Waho Island and then hiking all about the island. Chris is a man with an inexhaustible enthusiasm for what he does. His fierce passion for the geography, ecology and history of the Wanaka region cannot help but rub off on you. The island is a... More

If you only have a short time in Wanaka, then this must be on top of the list. If you are in Wanaka for a while and don't do the trip to Mou Waho island, then big mistake. This was the highlight of a trip to Wanaka, made so not just by the chance to visit Mou Waho and see... More

We did the cruise and hike of Mou Waho Island with Chris Riley. He was an unbelievable guide. Not only was the hike and information spectacular, but Chris, with his vast knowledge and contagious enthusiasm made it the perfect outing. It was one of many highlights of our New Zealand vacation, and Chris was absolutely the perfect representative for the... More

We did the cruise and island walk with Chris Riley. It was a great opportunity to see more remote parts of Lake Wanaka and Chris was brimming with information - about glaciers, the eating habits of moa birds, the history of the island and its wekas. The wekas (birds) were introduced onto the island in a, happily, successful bid to... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our personally guided drive along the valley and sheep, deer, cattle stations with stunning mountain views. Graham, our, guide, provided commentary about the families, plants, trees, and geology of the area as we hiked through Mt Aspiring National Park. A plentiful and tasty lunch was spread upon a tarp as we leisurely enjoyed the glacier view and... More
