This was probably one of the most fun things we did. We had dinner and then went out to swim in the luminous lagoon. I would recommend taking the last boat out so it will have very few people and will be good and dark.

I recommend this excursion ONLY if you are staying in Montego Bay Area. It was definitely interesting to see. But if you have to travel from Negril or Ocho Rios I would skip this one. The night I was there it was a full moon so you could not see it as good. Also, the people I was with kicked... More

We visited the il luminous lagoon as part of our honeymoon trip in May. The weather was very wet the whole week and we were warned that the illuminating effects may not be soo bright, due to the fresh (rain) water sitting on top of the mixing fresh and salt water (which cases there illuminating micro organisms to take effect)... Terrible waste of money no sign of these amazing waters, bay in darkness and we had so high hopes for this trip. Such a let down and complete waste of money

It was really a blast to swim in the lagoon, and to see the water glisten. I stayed on the boat to take photos; I was not successful using the point and shoot with the built-in flash to take a photo, but was able to take videos. A few on our excursion used life jackets (provided by the captain) and... More

Wow! Its worth going back to Jamaica to take the kids here! Only wish we could have stayed longer and that our pictures would have showed the brilliant blue glow better. Go on an evening when there is little or no moon so the bay will light up brighter for you. We had no moonlight and the glow was like... More

It's a beautiful and surreal experience swimming in waters that glow when you move! What makes it even better is the pockets of cold and warm water.

Though it cost $50 for the taxi/shuttle and boat (plus a tip, if you like), for only about 20 minutes in the water (for Jerry, the boat captain), if you are a nature buff and/or enjoy truly unique places on earth, this is worth-while night adventure. The microscopic bioluminescent organisms light up with any movement in the water because of... More

A little pricey but enjoyed the visit. You have to remember that this phenomenon only occurs in three places on the planet.
