Tranquil spot in early morning or late evening

Can get busy during the day, especially in mid-sumner, but is a lovely spot for a pre-breakfast or after-dinner stroll. Good for deer and birds.

We stayed at the Wawona Hotel so we simply walked across the street to hike this lovely nature trail. We took trail twice, going through the woods and the meadow. Since I love taking pictures, we walked very slowly so we could find the wildflowers. And find we did - some 30 different varieties. Such a lovely spot. Only drawback... More

This is a 3.5 mile hike that is about as easy as they come. But just because it's easy, doesn't mean it's not worth the effort. Park at Wawona early in the morning and hit the trail that borders the large meadow. Watch for critters including bears, coyotes, birds of all sorts and squirrels to name a few. We were... More

We drove, as seems most visitors do, to Wawona to see the Mariposa Grove which is certainly impressive. However, after a couple of sequoias, they all look a bit samey so we had lined up lunch at the Wawona Hotel (very good) and a hike of Wawona Meadow. We loved all the meadows in Yosemite but this hike is on... More

This area is great to drive by, probably better in the spring than fall. Otherwise, not a whole lot to see here. But there are much more scenic and beautiful areas.

If you have a limited time in the park, skip this area. We stopped as we came into the park and wasted some time here. The hike is a flat walk around the meadow of a few miles. It is dog, bike, and horse friendly. So, if that's what you're looking for, stop on by. But there are much more... More

I have some amazing pictures of deer we saw both on our way in the park and on our way back out. They seem to hang out around the golf course, so make sure your camera is ready and your eyes are peeled. We saw about 4 and I got a few pretty close up shots.

If you enjoy an easy 2 hour flat hike in the mountains, this is the trail for you. We live in Fresno and are able to drive to Yosemite's 41 entrance in about an hour. At the entry to the park you must pay a fee. We always purchase a yearly pass for the National Parks for $50.00. It takes... More
