A beautiful grove of giant sequoias - worth the drive from the Yosemite Valley. Was surprised at how dry and dusty it was (in October), but even so, the hike amongst the trees was very pleasant. [And if you see fire damage - don't despair (as I did) - the controlled burns are actually necessary for the sequoias to survive.]

We visited on our way to our next hotel so time was short. We only did a short walk but the trees are very impressive. If we go back will visit for longer next time.

It's an hour's drive from the Ahwahnee to Mariposa Grove and I'm glad we took the time to see it. (Though I'm not sure if I would return.) En route, you get to see examples of an older lodge and the golf course. Once there, you will need to thread your way through lots of tourists of all ages and... More

The hike through the sequoias is not to be missed. Take the walking trails not the tram tour. It may seem daunting, but take a slow and steady pace, and plenty of stops to admire the scenery. We saw deer, a squirrel who posed for photos, ravens, ... Hiked out to Wawona Point. Would not miss it for the world,... More

We stopped here on the way into Yosemite and spent a short time walking beneath the trees. It is truly specular and those (like us) who have not seen such huge trees before are in for a real treat. The short walk does climb about 500ft in elevation but it is well worth it as you must walk up to... More

What a humbling experience to be among such huge trees as the Sequoia's. The short walk to see Grizzly Giant was perfect for two small children with some excellent surprises along the way, like the root system of one of these trees. Just beyond Grizzly Giant is another wonderful Sequoia tree that has been chiseled out in the past for... More

We hiked through the woods on a cold and crisp winters day, the rangers had made a path through the snow which was 3 - 4 feet at times. The peace and quiet was stunning, the trees are like nothing I have ever seen before. We saw a wild bobcat and were able to spend a few hours here without... More

If you haven't seen any other redwood or Seqoia forests you should make the trip however, it pales in comparison to Muir woods.

Don't miss this beautiful grove of trees. We tried to go a couple of times, but it was so crowded we could not park nearby. One option was to take the bus, but my family did not want to. We were advised to go late in the day, so we went at about 5:30. It was great! Not alot of... More

Another of Yosemite's unique treasures. Can easily be reach by foot. If you have never seen California Redwood, then you don't want to miss them.
