We just got back from Yosemite last week. Seeing these magnificent trees were top on my list. The sizes are incredible. We ended up hiking the entire trail. Once one makes it up to the museum, there are bathrooms and a water fountain. There's not a whole lot to the museum other than some pictures and interesting facts, but it... more

Visited Maripose Grove in early June. Unfortunately, it was raining, and we could only see the lower grove. We could not make it to the upper grove, which is where all the good scenery was. Anyhow, I will not repeat the good details here since the other reviews already cover them, so I will provide some tips. - Bring flip... more

Besides the falls, this was another leg of our trip that was truly amazing! These beauties are large, they are well protected, which unlike the Northern Redwoods (which I believe are more abundant) you can't get up close and smell the bark, or hug it! The museum was quaint, the tram was very informative, and I believe very much worth... more

Oct 2008 went with older parents and grown siblings (40's). Park is open and tram tour runs until snow falls. Drive into park, walk a few feet and and get tram tickets. Tram tour is $20 and done with headsets (multiple languages). Several stops for photos. Tram is open - have a jacket. You can get off the tram at... more

I would recommend walking if physically possible instead of the tram tour. You would miss so much if you didn't walk. We saw some deer, chipmunks and all those beautiful gigantic pines cones, flowers and really take you time enjoying the bauty of it instead of the timed tram. Add this one on our itinerary. more

Mariposa Grove is away from the valley but worth a special ride to this grove. The trees are just spectacular. I took the Big Tree Tram Tour ($16) up to the top. Instead of riding the tram back down, I hiked which was very pleasant. The audio information on this tram is very good. Learn a lot about the trees.... more

We went to Mariposa Grove on our second day at Yosemite NP last month. However, we did not have the option of riding up the road leading to the giant trees.. The gate going up was closed so we had to hike the two miles to get there. Obviously, after seeing the place, we had to hike back down again... more

It is impossible to impart the magnificence of these trees, either in words or pictures. You just have to stand in front of them and gaze upwards to fully appreciate the majesty of these trees, some as old as several thousand years. There is an audio-guided open air tram that takes you up a paved road through the grove, to... more

Yosemite's Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is best in early October when crowds are thin, allowing you to drive right up to these beauties-- you don't even have to leave the comfort of your vehicle. There are a handful of giant sequoias within view, directly in the Mariposa Grove entrance area. It's the most accessible attraction at Yosemite -- a... more

This is a must-visit location if you're on the south side of Yosemite Park. There is no doubt that these trees are awesome. You have a choice - you can walk through the forest at your own pace and see some of the trees up close, although I got the impression that it would be quite a long walk to... more
