I'm not conditioned, don't hike much, but am fairly active so this hike was a nice one. Not used to the altitudes so I had to stop a few times when I was pushing upward and starting to suck wind. Plenty of places to stop and rest for that, easy to find shade. The view from the top of the... More

We hiked here from Glacier Point and it was definitely worth it. The unobstructed 360 degree views were incredible.

This is the easiest hike in the park for the payoff -- only a mile of easy uphill. the view from the top is amazing, from El Cap and Yosemite Falls right below you to Half Down looming to the east.

Moderate hike which is around 2 miles round trip. The actual dome is steep, but manageable. There are spectacular 360 degree views which make the climb worth it!

It remains a nice viewpoint and an easy hike (although parking can be hard in season) on a typical granite dome in Yosemite. I have been there on many occasions but not in the last 25 years so I was sad to find that the beautiful old twisted Jeffrey pine at the summit had died and fell down (or somebody... More

We did the Sentinel Dome hike and it was very enjoyable and very doable for average people. i am middle aged and don't consider myself very fit. i did not reach all the way to the top of the dome but i truly believe i could and should've, it's not too difficult but i was a little worried about coming... Hike a mile or so on a moderate trail, not extremely strenuous, then climb the last few feet upwards on the top of this granite rock, (very strenuous) and you will be rewarded with what I think is the best spot in the park. It's the second tallest locale (over 7,000 feet) and you get an amazing panoramic view. It's... More

The hike to Sentinel Dome was moderate until we got to the dome. I can't say there was much to look at on the way up there. The climb up the dome was quite steep. My family made it to the top and said you could see everything. It was a little scary watching others climb down, and the granite... More

Our famiy of four (2 kids 10 & 13) took the 5 mile loop from the trailhead to Taft Point then on to Sentinel Dome. We took a leisurely 5 hours to make the loop, taking pictures and a snack break along the way, bring water (48 oz per person was good for us first week in June). If you... More
