We did taft point and sentinel dome as a half day trip in beautiful clear weather on 20th Oct. Stunning walk/views/jaw dropping views.Probably the best days walking it has ever been my privilege to do. Also can drive 5 minutes up to glacier point. more

We started the hike at the Sentinel/Taft parking area. The hike was fairly easy. Although the climb up the rocks looked intimidating for someone like myself who hasn't done a lot of hiking, it wasn't hard at all. The reward for reaching the top was incredible. This was our family's favorite hike and certainly one you don't want to skip. more

Agree with other reviewers - start hike at the Sentinel Dome/Taft Point trailhead not at Glacier Point unless you relish the uphill climb. Slow uphill climb for about 1 mile until your reach the dome and then a very achievable scramble up the rock for a fantastic view. Took a 3, 6 and 11 year old and all three loved... more

Located on Glacier Point Road. This is a 1.5 mile hike (3 round trip) that puts you at the top of the dome. It is a moderate hike, but the view is incredible. Be carfeful when hiking, because trail is poorly marked. Can easily get lost when coming back down (like us). Follow crowds up/down and you will be ok.... more

Everything you hear about the view in Yosemite is true, and everyone tells you to go to Glacier Point to take it all in. For me, I rather enjoyed this view and hike much better. The view is very similar from both spots, but you get more of a 360 degree view from here. The hike up from the road... more

We hiked from the valley floor to Taft point/ Glacier pt. and had a snack and took in the views. Then headed up to Sentinel Dome after reading the reviews. Wow it is just an amazing view. 360 views and you can see the far end of the park and all the major peaks. We could see forest fires last... more

This is one of the best things to do in Yosemite. You get to see panaramic views of the entire park, have snowball fights and make snowmen. It is a little steep near the end of the hike, but it definitely is worth it. People of all fitness levels will enjoy this hike. A lot of people at the top... more

I agree! This is one of my favorite hikes and views in all of Yosemite. The hike is easy and if you do it early in the morning when everything is quiet and peacful you will feel like you are on top of the world! Make sure you bring your camera (even though you won't be able to capture how... more

This is a short (1.2 mile one-way) easy trail to the most sublime view in the park. The trail begins at the marked parking area one mile west of Glacier Point. From the parking area the trail to Sentinel Dome heads to the right; the trail to Taft Point and the fissures forks to the left. After an easy climb... more
