I didn't stay at the Ahwahnee Hotel as I couldn't get a booking however we did visit there. The place is very spacious and the main dining room is huge and smells strongly of log fires. We looked around the hotel and found it had so much atmosphere and history attached to it. We had lunch in the dining room... More

Magnificent, majestic rooms where the fireplaces could serve as a bedroom. The dinning hall, solarium and grand hall are very cozy.

Went for afternoon drinks to sit in the great hall with fireplaces to relax and read. Wouldn't give us code for wifi because we weren't staying at the hotel.

So, save money and overnight elsewhere! Stop in and look around as you can't help but admire this hotel and history. A variety of room types to choose from. On our visit, 400.00 was the least expensive rate

We have visited the Ahwahnee over the 50 years we have been traveling to Yosemite. It still has a magnificence and stature that makes you love it despite the "getting tired" appearance that has taken over the sitting areas. The upholstered chairs look worn and tired. The wood tables and chairs look junky. The restaurant still looks impressive , and... More

We attended one of their Vintner's holidays. An epicurean extravaganza complete with premium Napa wines, served by the vintner's themselves in mini-educational sessions. All topped off with a blow out feast. A charming warm place, loved the massive fireplace and the nooks/crannies to settle in with a good book or the morning paper. Scenery is breathtaking. I think over the... More

Unfortunately, the great room was a mass of conference room chairs rather than the usual lovely furnishings

Why they don't have tours of the historic hotel is puzzling. Pretty miserable parking. Cheerful, helpful staff. Dining is quite overpriced throughout the facility.

Unique ambiance with a lovely dining room, that sometimes reminds you of a fictitious "Hogwarts dinner function" depicted in HP films. The surrounding view of the national park envelopes the place with nature through its huge windows, providing a stunning experience at any time of day. Undeniably expensive, but worth the splurge once in a "blue moon".

Yes, the rooms are incredibly expensive, but long after the bill is paid you will remember sipping afternoon tea in the gorgeous great hall while a piano plays, or having a lovely dinner in the incredible dining room, or walking the grounds and halls admiring all the thought and design expertise that went into building and maintaining this architectural landmark.
