Yes, the rooms are incredibly expensive, but long after the bill is paid you will remember sipping afternoon tea in the gorgeous great hall while a piano plays, or having a lovely dinner in the incredible dining room, or walking the grounds and halls admiring all the thought and design expertise that went into building and maintaining this architectural landmark.

The gorgeous Ahwahnee Hotel links guests to the charming and gallant history of Yosemite Valley. It is refined - that precious combo of rough hewn and elegant all at once. It is lovely to explore Yosemite's dramatic terrain all day and then dress up and relax over a candlelit dinner next to 40-foot windows that frame the dramatic scenery while... More

Can't say I've ever been willing to pay the rates at Ahwahnee, I'm more of a Curry Village kind of guy. However, that doesn't prevent me from having a deep appreciation for the history and opulence of the place. The way I take in the Lodge is as a reward after each hike to the top of Half Dome. My... This is a very lovely place with a charm and character from days gone by. We liked the cottages in the back instead of a room in the main building. It was more secluded and very romantic. Make sure to take a walk to the back of the property to the Merced River for nice views of the river or... More

Such a beautiful, elegant building. Like stepping back in time. The buffet breakfast was $25, good but nothing to "write home about".

We took a tour of the hotel with the charming Cara. She brought to life the interesting story with anecdotes, song and even dance! Recommended.

If you can't stay at the Ahwahnee Hotel go and have a drink at the outdoor bar and enjoy a deer grassing on the lawn, squirrels running by and birds singing in the trees. Then go indside and explore the beautiful mats, baskets and carpet wowen by Ahwahnee Indian women. Spetacular handicraft. Furthermore see the great architechture of the Ahwahnee... More

The architecture, the rugs, the stained glass, the fireplaces, the giant stones, the giant wood pole beams--it is a magnificent structure, lovingly kept up and dating back to the 20's. We ate twice in the restaurant--delicious!!

It is not only a beautiful hotel in the middle of Yosemite, but it has a very interesting history. Go on a tour if you can. We had an hour tour with a young woman who ended the tour by singing the Firefall song. It was lovely. What is amazing is that all of the "wood" is really metal that... More
