After just getting back from a trip to Yosemite, I had to write a review of my amazing experience. As I've never been to Yosemite and only had a short stay, I wanted to get all that I could out of the trip. The folks at the Yosemite Mountaineering School did not disappoint. My girlfriend and I utilized the Mountaineering... More

I was only in yosemite for a very short time (unfortunately!) and travelling solo. I love nature and wanted to see what Yosemite had to offer in the time available to me, and found yosemite mountaineering school really helpful. Apart from the rock climbing, they also offered group nature discovery walks and 'bike and hike's'. They showed flexibility which was... More

I am an experienced climber, both indoors and outdoors, but I don't do trad lead, which is what is required for most climbs in Yosemite. So we hired a guide from the school and it was the right decision. Our guide, Scott, is one of the most experienced climbers in the Valley (88 ascents of El Cap!), and he taught... More

I have taken a few classes with YMS. The Valley is one of my most favorite places in the world to rock climb, especially with a guide at the base near Yosemite Lower Falls,,or the base of El Capitan/Totalkanoola !! Also enjoyed the cliffs east of Tenaya Lake for exposure and scenery. And hear the winter xc ski to Glacier... More

My wife and I met our guide Kari, at the Ahwahnee Hotel at 8:30 for an all day hike on the Mist trail. We were unfamiliar with the park and trails and hoped that a guided hike would be helpful. Kari did not disappoint. She was a wealth of knowledge about the history of the park, the flora and fauna... More

Our family of 5 (3 kids from 12 - 16) just got back from spending 4 days in Yosemite. The highlight of the trip for everyone was spending an entire day (8:30-4) Rock Climbing. Our guide was Aaron, and he was wonderful. He spent time teaching the basics, then let us climb! My husband and I was spent by lunch... More

We recently took a trip to Yosemite and had booked a lesson for our first day there. In the middle of summer, it started raining. We went to the office and asked if the trip would be canceled given that it's raining. The front desk girl said it's our call, we could cancel or reschedule, or we could go ahead... More

My daughter and I had never rock climbed before, and participated in their full-day (830-4) beginner class. The instruction was thorough, and we both completed 4 short climbs that were moderately difficult (5.2) and one more challenging climb (5.8). It helps to be in reasonably good shape; it's more of a workout than it seems. We had 5 people in... More

Crack climbing with Yosemite Mountaineering School was awesome. We learned toe jams, hand jams, stemming, and smearing. Cracks are what make outdoor climbing more fun (and painful) than indoor climbing. The climbs included Oak Tree Flake 5.6, Jam Crack 5.7, Claude's Delight 5.7, etc. The instructor tailored the level of the climbs to our ability. We also learned to build... More

Our Girl Scout troop of 15 and 16 year olds loved this day. They learned so much, not only the techniques presented, but also learning what they could do if they just kept going. Our guides were careful and qualified, but also let the girls learn by doing. Awesome day.
