This is the only review from this trip where I share my dislike of snowmobiles. They are loud, there are too many of them at most stops, it is often difficult to believe that operators must have driver's licenses and, on a narrow route like this, snow-coaches have to constantly watch for them, even though winter traffic is one-way. One... More

This is a great detour from the main road if you are traveling from the canyon area down to Old Faithful. Very scenic and not very crowded, a few great spots to stop and get out and take pictures and enjoy the scenery.

A lovely drive through magnificant scenery. Certainly many Kodak moments of breath taking views. The waterfalls were impressive and easy access to all of them. Another great day.

I had looked for a place to swim in Yellowstone because my 14 year old son's life revolves around water. We swam in Firehole River because I found out on Tripadvisor that it was the best place in Yellowstone for swimming. It was a bit crowded the day we were there but lots of fun. My son and I were... The old narrow road (one way) winds through the canyon with amazing views of the sparkling river and falls. Several places to stop and take photos safely.

Gorgeous views and masses of photo opportunities but too many cars and people. The swimming area looked lovely but once again crowded

We asked a ranger if there was some part of western Yellowstone that visitors usually missed. He recommended the drive up this tight, winding and relatively short canyon where the river is almost constantly roaring through powerful rapids. An amazing photo opportunity and won't take you too far out of your way. Cars only, RV's are far too big to... More

This road follows along the Firehole River and canyon. Just beautiful, but narrow road in some spots, so if you are the least bit scared of heights, this may be a problem. Road is one-way, so that helps.

One of the loveliest wild places in Yellowstone National Park. We found this on our last day in the park on our way back to West Yellowstone from Old Faithful Inn. After spending three entire days in Yellowstone this was the most beautiful breathtaking drive of our time there. It's only two miles but the waterfall in the canyon is... More
