I think this is a neat little drive, but it is only really worth going down if you are traveling from Madison to Old Faithful. Don't backtrack just to take the drive.

Beautiful little drive next to the river. Even a swimming hole area. Too cold for that now! We got some great pictures of the falls. Nice pull offs along the way.

This is a very scenic drive that is only a couple of miles long. There is a swimming area where the water is heated by geothermal activity. I went in the water and it was about 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. This was not exactly a heated pool. However, it was refreshing and invigorating.

Firehole Canyon Drive is a short, scenic drive with pullouts along the way. We enjoyed seeing the Firehole River rapids and the waterfall. The one-way road is off Grand Loop Road just south of Madison junction.

Be sure to take this 2-mile one-way drive. It is closed to RVs and busses, but is easily negotiated in the family sedan or SUV. The road travels along the Firehole River, including some impressive falls and a place where one can swim in relative safety.

We thought this would be a nice quiet drive to see some thermal features from the rental car. We were surprised at the eruption of a large geyser and had the area all to ourselves to watch it and photograph it as long as we wanted. Beautiful!

The entire Yellowstone park was awe inspiring, almost felt like what I think Mars would be like! Geysers, steam coming up from random holes, gorgeous colored waters pools, wildlife and bubbling mud pools. Loved it!

We drove through toward the end of a busy day and found the views stunning. Then we saw the swimming area and knew we had to return the next day before we left the area. Well, the next day they had the road closed off for road work. We drove to the other end and parked and hiked in. Unfortunately... More
