Super venue for live theatre

The shows are well done. Terrace or inside offers good choices, grounds are beautiful. An outdoor theatre just adds to all shows.

This beautiful park, funded by the National Park Service, offers a disappointing series of programs. For example, do we really need funded venues to hear music as tepid as that offered by Yanni? Even when the music is good, the sound system destroys it. While speaking with acquaintances in Washington DC, I discovered that this is the dirty secret of... More

My husband and I attend at least 2-3 concerts here during the late spring/summer months. We really like the fact that you can bring in your own picnic, including alcoholic beverages and sit on the lawn. Since we always get pavilion seats (as you never know if it will rain - like it did last night at Steve Windwood) we... More

The USA's only National Park dedicated to the performing arts, the Filene Center at Wolf Trap consists of a stage with covered ampitheater, behind which is a large, grassy picnic and viewing area. General Admission gets you a first-come first-served seat on the grass, and the more pricey tix get you under cover in the ampitheater.Full picnics are allowed on... More

If at all possible, use the Metrorail and Metro Express Bus (from the West Falls Church station) to attend any event. You are let out at the front gate bypassing a great number of people who have used their own cars and used the free lot parking. Leaving the event is much easier and quicker than fighting the mass exit... More

the atmosphere is relaxed yet upscale. Easy to get around. Bring a picnic and get there early to get a good spot and enjoy the surroundings. Just wish they'd attract more of a variety of shows. Seems like the same ones every year.

Great venue! You can bring in a picnic and a bottle of wine without being patted down!! The lawn seats are wonderful and if you need a chair, you can rent one and sit up in the back.
