Cincinnati is a theater town. We have as broad a selection of performing arts as many cities twice our size. The Shakespeare Company offers more than just Ol' Will; and it's another place where the acting is always good, the direction is imaginative, and the experience is almost always satisfying.

Sets could have been a little better and the seats are a worn, but for a small theater it was a great production. Look forward the seeing an... More

My husband and I went here on our first date 15 years ago and have been season subscribers ever since. The company produces classic theater and does it with a resident company, not imported talent. And such enthusiasm!

The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (which performs mainly, but not exclusively works of Shakespeare) would compare favorably in any city of any size. The performance space is a converted movie theatre, so the seats are not banked high enough for the stage - sit in the front row. The company does so much with so little, it blows my mind. I... I have seen the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company perform several times, both inside its own theater and out in local areas. Every performance has been amazing, filled with actors young and old who have studied not just Shakespeare's text but the theater traditions of the era. The company's interpretations of classical Shakespearean speech and plays bring the plays to life in... More

I was so, so overjoyed to discover the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, and surprised how few people seem to have heard of it. The plays here are always fantastic, professionally done and accessible. I like that they focus both on Shakespeare's cannon and modern plays. Their performances of comedy mash ups like Every Christmas Story Ever Told are hilarious! I go... More

I was pleased to discover this theater company as a one-time English major who had to study Shakespeare. This group is quite talented and presents old material in very fresh and current yet appropriate manner. The theater is well-worn which makes it special. A very good value and experience!

This theatre company is the very best at making Shakespeare's works fun, accessible, and entertaining! I've seen dozens of shows there, and am never disappointed. I've even developed a love for the History plays because of this company, and I used to avoid them as being "boring"!

The company consists of many fine professionals, perhaps most notably the director. We saw a presentation of Taming of the Shrew and were completely satisfied we saw the bawdy sense of Shakespeare's comedy. Costumes and the set enhanced the performances with the surprise of using the full venue of the theatre. It may have been our first but shall not... More

This intimate theater offers innovative programming. It has run all Shakespeare plays over the last few years as well other great plays by well known playwrights. Worth a try
