This is in the park and the size and structure is phenomenal All the names in graves on the walls just hits you a little more and makes you realize all that was lost. Beautiful memorial

Visited with friends and my 2 children under the age of 12. Very good experience. Explored the names and learned about the deliberate construction of the 47 steps to the monument. Very interesting history.

This is the most detailed civil war battlefield I have ever visited. Each area has a sign that you can walk up to and use you phone to listen to what actually happened in the area you are standing. All through the park are signs with the different stages of the battle described. It is also one that you need... More

We had a most interesting visit to Vicksburg! The informational video was most informative. The battlefield park was very well laid out.

The image indicated is the monument placed by the state of Illinois to commemorate the soldiers from Illinois who fought in the battle for Vicksburg. This monument is one of many beautiful placed by the states. Lots of rich history here and a beautiful park.

Like another reviewer has mentioned, this is a memorial to Illinois's troops who fought here. It is located in the park and can easily be driven to with plenty of parking if you want to go inside.

Beautiful, reverent and thoughtful are the words I would use to describe this park. We loved the information it provided and the look into the past it gave us.

Seems some of the locals enjoy the sport of throwing large rocks off the bridges as the cars pass below on the interstate. My welcoming gift from the state will be running me about $400.00, We called the 911 and they ask if I wanted to stop and file a report. I told her I was sure as soon as... More

There is no Vicksburg National Monument. This is the Illinois Monument, the largest on the state monuments at the Vicksburg battlefield, located on the Vicksburg Campaign Trail. It is very impressive, but the TA attraction is incorrectly labeled.
