What a great historical journey. The film in the vistor's center sets the stage for hours of perspective on the Civil War.
This was an educational leisure day with my family. We learned a lot about the history of the battle that took place there and took in the beauty of the area.
Largest number of Civil War soldiers buried in any US military cemetary. I wish the road had more spots to stop and park to walk and sit and reflect on the tombstones and scenery.
Not much to really see or do here. If you are taking the battlefield tour it is worth a look, but do not go out of your way to visit.
I enjoyed it every time I went both alone and 6 times with family(so far). The best way to see it is on one of the docent tours. It costs extra and REQUIRES reservations (see the website for more info.) but boy is it worth it.
