We stayed in an apartment near this beach Jan 2014. You need to pack your own food/ drinks but found it relaxing and a peaceful place to spend a day away from the crowds. Great sand and access to the ocean. Weekends found many of the locals coming down...so we only went during the week..but did see local boys practicing... More

Would not take the kids here, filled with homeless camps. Much better beaches down the street in Waikiki, betteryet, drive over to the windward side and go to Kailua, Sunset or the North Shore for white sand beaches.

I try returning back to Hawaii almost every year. Ala Moana Beach is just perfect. The beach, the road and the Ala Moana Mall with a large food section.

Friday nights is where fireworks lit up. This is the place to be to watch it. The beach park is real nice and lots of parking. We had a professional photographer from Hawaiian Pix to take sunset pics of us with Diamond Head in the background for memories.

I don't want to sound like a snob, but this place was kind of gross. I would stick to other Waikiki beach parks. Full of bums and some really smelled. I could not wait until my run was over. Don't go out of your way.

Review aimed for parents with toddlers - Went to Waikiki and it was busy, rough and unsafe for a crawling toddler (15months) Drove the 5mins from our hotel in Waikiki and felt so much more at ease! Safe, no waves, clean and surrounded by local families. The parking signs say the park closes at 4pm but it doesn't, it's open... More

Even though just divided by the marina from Waikiki Beach, the Ala Moana Beach Park is something pretty different. It is mainly visited by locals, mostly families, some spending here the day, BBQ, etc. The beach is pretty similar to Waikiki, but the sunset is not so nice as the background includes some buildings. The good point is that you... More

Awesome ocean view, enjoy the ocean breeze, sunny days and sunsets. We loved it here. It was a great way to avoid the large groups of tourists in Waikiki

My mother and I was able to enjoy the refreshing sea breeze, not to mention the beautiful sun set. It was January of this year and the nights can be cold so suggest to bring some light jackets to ward of the windy afternoons.
