The view at the top is well worth the climb even if you're afraid of heights. We bypassed the bridge by taking the easier path to the right of it. Make sure you go ALL the way to the top and PAST the concrete building, because once you get there, you'll see the actual crater! We almost missed it.

A great little climb along an old rail track! You will be rewarded with a stunning view of O'ahu overlooking Hanauma Bay, Diamond Head, Waikiki, etc. Bring a hat, water, and sunscreen as there is no shade along the entire route. This is a much more difficult climb than Diamond Head. Take your time and you will be fine! I... More

The view at the top of the crater is beautiful!! Please, PLEASE be aware that this is not an easy hike. Even for people who are in good shape, the stairs are very steep. The distance seems much longer than it is, simply because each step is challenging. Be sure to bring water, sunglasses, and sunscreen, wear clothing you don't... More

This is not a trail for anyone wanting a stroll up some easy mountain trail. This is pretty much a straight trail up the side of a mountain. Around 1,500 "steps" composed of railroad ties makes this not a beautiful walk. It is gorgeous when you reach the top with 360 degree views. Many people gave up before reaching the... More

Great view when you reach the summit. Only 1.1ks but straight up. Go early before it gets too hot. Reasonable level of fitness required.

I can't say I knew quite what I was getting into when I tagged along with my brother and teenage niece to Koko Head. What a climb! I wouldn't even really call it a hike, since you're pretty much going straight up. This is not for those who are afraid of heights, and this is not for those who are... More

Definitely not for the faint of heart. If you are in shape and determined, go for it, but do it early, before 9, so that you can find parking and it isn't that hot. I saw families with children of all ages and even an a pregnant lady who completed the climb. I also saw athletes who ran up and... More

I see a number of reviews and pictures under this heading of the Diamond Head hike, which is MUCH different than the Koko Head Crater hike. Koko Head is located on the East side of the island and it's basically a straight incline to the top of a dormant volcano. There is no shade or tunnels and it can get... More

This was definitely a challenging hike but it was a lot of fun and the views were well worth it. My favorite part was the bridge that was wobbly and kinda creepy. Bring water and good shoes, you'll need it!

This trail is an awesome run if your hardcore or walk if your just out on a stroll guaranteed that you will break a sweat by the end. But once you get to the end the view is amazing.
