Myself and three other Australian girls decided to do this walk after going to the beach one day. We naively showed up wearing thongs (flip flops) and beach clothes, grossly underestimating how difficult the walk was - some people were in hiking gear! It's a tough climb to the top, but we managed to get up and down in a... More

This is a very challenging trail to walk. Unless you are in great shape, I recommend you take your time walking up it. Pacing yourself is the best way. Allow the fast walkers to pass you and pace yourself. If you have a bad knee like me, using a hiking stick will help you with the climb. There are no... More

This hike is brilliant. The view from the top is worth every single of the 1000 rail way sleepers you have to climb to get there. I cannot recommend it highly enough. My husband and I were both speechless at the view that greeted us when we got to the top. What an amazing view of a spectacular island.

OMG this trail was nuts!!! It is nothing like Diamond Head, there is no paved trail it's a lot of steps, uneven steps. It took us about 40 min to go up and down of course with a few breaks and taking pics at the top. The view at the top is incredible better than diamond head in my opinion.... More

Make no mistake, this is tough, but so worth it reaching the top. It's not about the view, although nice, it's about accomplishing something that is worthy. It's about 1000 steps which start out at a reasonable gradient and then get steeper for about 2/3rds of the way before easing off near the top. When I come back to Oahu... More

This is an ok hike, not a lot of great views but it is kind of cool walking through the mountain tunnels. There are quite of few people who do this so you will certainly not be alone. The view of Waikiki and Honolulu is nice once you get to the top. Probably something everyone should do once, but not... More

We did this trail after 2 hours of snorkelling and in the heat of the day (around 11.30AM) and it was a true challenge. Don't know which was harder, down or up, but it was soooo worth doing. PS Take the side trail when you get to the bridge crossing -- it goes to the right and is very safe.

Pretty steep, but neat walk up an old train track. Awesome views from the top and cool old concrete buildings. Definitely recommend.

Start early in the morning, 7-8:30am and take water. Park by the Baseball Field. The track starts beside the Baseball Diamond, it's not really marked. Take your time and enjoy the view on the way up. It is tough but worth it when you get to the top. Once at the top of the Rail Tracks head around to the... More

there are many descriptions of this hike online, so I'll make it short. steep stairs, it takes some effort to climb uphill, but the view is totally worth it!! take plenty of water, but make sure you give this short hike a go while you're here. public transport bus 23 takes you close to the start, ask locals for directions....
