We who live around Koko Head District Park and use the park for other reasons are tired of silly tourists who have to be rescued from this "novice" climb because they don't have the common sense to know what they're doing. If you must hike this unforgiving trail, please wear a hat and at least sneakers or hiking boots (NO... More

I climb this hill just before my 51th birthday, and it took me sometime to reach the top. But it was well worth it to me to make it up all 1048 steps. I recommend you have a good meal, before the climb, you will need the energy.

Make up your mind and start of the trail! Start your hike nice and early in the morning. It will be a struggle for many of us but don't give up! Do it! You will be treated to some the spectacular views at the top. Hanauma Bay was absolutely gorgeous!

We did this hike/stair climb after reading a lot of reviews worrying it might be too difficult. In the end we took the plunge. It was well worth it. My husband and I are in out mid 40's. We are in reasonable health and both visit the gym 1-2 a week and we do short hikes while in the pacific... More

This was one of my favorite hikes & FREE that we did when in HI. The incline is a bit of a challenge & definitely take water. Don't hesitate to stop for short breaks on the way up because the view at the top is amazing. At the top walk to the other side & sit & enjoy the beautiful... More

This used to be a hidden gem of a hike (known only to us locals) unfortunately it has become very well known through social media and now extremely crowded and somewhat eroded. Too many people going off the trail to get around people in front of them, now the sides of the railroad ties (used as steps) have huge grooves... More

It was a little too intense seeing that I was out of shape. Should've known to lose some weight. Was very pretty....I will try it again in January 2016. Steep uphill climb compared to the VERY EASY Diamond Head.

I do the hike every time I am on the island which is monthly almost. It's quite steep and not for anyone with a heart problem. You step on and between railroad ties and over an open trestle. Going down is worse as it can be a knee crusher,
