A must-do in Honolulu. The stairs are steep, the bridge is a bit scary, and it's hot. The views from top are very rewarding. Make sure you go all the way up to explore the 360-views. Take your time and bring lots of water. You'll need every drop of it. Also, you have more shade the earlier you go so... More

Not for the faint of heart, but if you're up for it, this is a really challenging trail straight up the mountain. Breathtaking views at the top, and not crowded like diamond head. Take it slow and stay hydrated!

This 1000+ stair vertical climb is well worth the physical pain you'll endure the morning after. Take water, wear shoes with a good grip, go early or late (otherwise the sun will make it harder than it already is). Slow and steady wins the race on this crater hike (approx. 45mins - 2 hours). The sunset is breathtaking but beware... More

I went on this excursion with my wife (personal trainer) and son (naval officer). I am not going to lie, it was an intense and sometimes scary climb to the top for me. I think the first image you get over seeing the trail cut into the mountain can make you nervous. We went around 4pm so I suggest earlier... More

Straight up! This is a good little work out with amazing views at the top! A lot less busy than diamond head. Get up there for sunrise. Worth it! Free parking and easy to find, just get ready to puff and break a sweat haha.

Great hike! beautiful view. safe and maintained! Steps and far apart so take your time. there is a trail to go down the ridge side from the top! better in the early morning or late afternoon when sun is not really hot!

This climb wasn't as challenging as I expected it to be when reading the reviews, but it was certainly still tough. Go early in the morning when the trail is still in the shade and take plenty of water. We stopped a handful of times on the way up, and it's a bit tricky because it's a railway so obviously... More

Ok, I admit that I am a wimp. But why, oh why, did I listen to my husband when he told me he found a great family hike for us on DAY TWO of our trip??? I could not walk for the rest of my vacation after hiking the Koko Crater. I had to hobble up stairs and almost considered... More

This is climb is a bit challenging. The railway sleepers are quite far apart and sandy, so be careful. The last part is very steep, a bit like climbing a ladder. The view at the top is magnificent. Be careful climbing down as it can be slippery.

This is steeper than it initially looks and will give you a good work out. Start the walk early at the start of the day (or later in the afternoon) and make sure you take some water with you. If you get to the 'bridge' and are not comfortable crossing that there is a path off to the right that... More
