Koko NUTS!

A fun family hike but be sure to wear appropriate covered hiking shoes. Its worth the hike to the summit. The pillboxes are an added treat.

We heard this was the most difficult trail to do on Oahu so we were determined to meet this challenge. We were probably the oldest couple and took our time up the rails/steps as well as back down. It's very important to bring more water than you think you'll need and go early in the day to avoid the Hot... More

Koko head is just an amazing place. A stair with almost two thousand steps take away from the base to the top. From the top it is possible to see Honolulu, Waikiki beach, hamauma bay and more. Take good shoes and some water..

Our family trekked to the top of the Koko crater. It is a difficult climb as it is all vertical on an old tram line. It is in decent shape but you must go slow and bring plenty of water! Once you summit you will be treated to spectacular 360 degree views of the island. The way down is somewhat... More

This is a great trail if you're looking to feel the burn! It is a giant staircase to the top of a crater. The view is great of the south shore, but I wouldn't recommend this trail unless your goal is to get in some heavy exercise. (there are a lot of other beautiful trails that offer great views and... Walked up this morning, kicked off around 8 am. was 20 min drive from waikiki area. Key observations i can make are that you should go early before it gets too hot and the crowds get there. Much like diamond head aim for early and you'll be rewarded. When you get to the top every drop of sweat will be... More

My husband and son went to the top of the trail and took some breathtaking pictures from the top. It has a very steep incline at the beginning. There are points from the beginning to the top where the novice like me can stop take a rest and catch a breath. It's not well publicize but it was a good... More

Excellent work out, beautiful views! Many people come here thinking it'll be easy and just wear slippers (flip-flops?), but it is actually a hard hike! The rescue helicopter is always hovering around in the summer to rescue someone with medical complications, so be very careful and know your limits! The views are stunning and absolutely worth the hike up!

We were dumb and hiked it in the middle of the afternoon, it was VERY hot. Views at the top are worth it and you get a great workout. Just make sure you go early, wear sunscreen, good shoes and bring lots of water! Also there are bee hives underneath the bridge area of the trail but just calmly walk... More

The "trail" is actually the route that of the tram that used to go to the top of Koko Head to the FAA air traffic control station. I grew up on Oahu and my dad was a traffic controller. He worked there. The area was not open to the public when I left in 1977. My cousin and I, at... More
