This hike is difficult but not impossible. Just go earlier in the morning and take your time. Plenty of water and a hat are a must - just make sure your hat is secure as it can be quite windy once you are at the summit. The trail is pretty straight as it was meant for railcars and the steps... More

This is a climb on old railroad ties and rails. 1001 to be exact. The terrain is very rough, run down, and uneven, but the views are worth it. Allow 1/2 hour or more one way. Bring water is a must!!!! I encountered fire & rescue airlift a young man who did not realize his abilities and become dehydrated &... More

Good hike on a warm day". Liked the beauty of vegetation, was a bit too hot and dry. Take water and a hat...you'll need it

Koko Crater trail was quite the experience. If you're looking for a workout with a great view for your reward this is the trail for you. I'm in fairly decent shape with a few extra pounds and figured why not try it. The trail consists of old railroad ties and some aren't in great shape just watch your step. I... More

My two friends and I hiked this trail early in the morning (around 7:15am). I recommend going around this time because the sun will not be shining on the trail yet and the trail won't be as congested. The trail starts out easy and gets steeper as you climb. It took us about 30 min to get to the top.... More

Koko crater trail kicked my butt. There are so many people on this trail, most are kind, helpful and encouraging. Thank you. Bring a hat and lots of water, it is hot, there are no shade and the climb is steep. There is a small part of rail over the ravine but the rest is just steep steps. You can... More

This is a really tough climb it is straight up the whole way. Take it slow allow yourself to take breaks you will need them to catch your breath. Husband and I are in good shape but took the trail around the bridge on the way down we didn't feel steady enough for it. If you go you'll see why.
