Never managed to reach the top! Two big pieces of advice...well actually three or four...bring plenty water, wear a hat, wear sun screen and start early in the morning. Not suitable for anyone with dodgy knees! Amazing scenery, pretty much from where ever you stop on the stairs! My aim is to get to the top on my next trip!

If you want to have and get a beautiful picture of the island this is where you can get it and on a clear day you even see the other islands. I do this hike at least once every month. But bring lots of water it is worth the hike.

We went early to watch the sunrise. I was surprised by how many people were doing the hike but it didn't feel crowded at all. It was a hard climb but worth the effort for the spectacular views at the top (and the satisfaction of saying I did it). Going up was easier than down. Not as hard on the... More

This is a kind of difficult and busy hiking, I suggest go very early. The view is awesome and at the top you can feel the wind and see many points of the Island.

beautiful hike. Amazing views. You can park your car right in the park for a very low fee. Recommend going early. Park fills up and the trails are not super wide. The lookout gets crowded as the tour buses get there.

Excellent work out and great views. Even if your not on the best shape (I'm not) it is still doable. Felt like a contestant on the biggest looser and Bob was pushing me to meet my goal and not give up. Ran out of breath a couple of times, had to stop to catch but with Bob in the back... More

We decided to hike Koko Crater Trail on one of the last days of our trip, it was slightly overcast but by the time we got to the top of the weather cleared and the view was amazing. The support beams that cross the trail make the hike easy. (we actually did this hike 2012)

As others have said, go early. If you wait too long, the sun will be right on you. It really isn't a trail, it is a very cool stair climb. Pictures don't do it justice. We loved it.

This Hike offers a spectacular view to the all Waikiki bay area, including Diamond Head and Hanauma Bay. Easy to moderate... so if you are not prepared, I recommend to reserve 2 to 3 hours for the full experience. The view is amazing.. for me, much better than the Diamond Head.

A must do if you are ready for a challenge. Go early, bring water, and take your time, or go for a record. I have climbed it twice my best time is 32 min going up, 12 minutes going down. The view from the top makes it worth the climb. It’s not easy and a little dangerous but it worth... More
