Hilo Hattie's is probably the one place most people think of when thinking of "iconic" items from the islands. The store on Honolulu isn't huge ... has quite a bit of things for sale and the items are not crammed together (a bit plus in my book). Yes, their items can be pricey ... though I did see a few... The store has a huge variety of items for sale and to get there, they even have a free bus service around Honolulu. You get a free ride back as well. Upon entry to the store, you are greeted with a shell necklace and a cold drink from friendly staff members. There is a small restaurant for snack foods and... More

The nice part of going to Hilo Hattie is their free shuttle service provided. These open air shuttle buses came right past our Waikiki hotel and were interesting to travel on as they have no windows, probably due to the pleasant weather experienced all year round in Hawaii. Upon entering the Hilo Hattie store we were welcomed by nice and... More

I live in Hawaii and Hilo Hattie is a massive Tourist Trap! The merchandise is priced too high, macadamia nut candy samples are passed out in tiny pieces like they are gold, food is poor at the snack bar and the buses… well they are Dirty, Hot and Extremely Unpleasant to ride in. What ever happened to the quaint slice... More

On our last trip to Hawaii in 2008, this was my favourite souvenir store. A lot has changed since then. There was mainly overpriced Hawaiian shirts, sarongs, dresses and muumuu's. Very little gift items. Hubby bought a Duke Hawaiian shirt for $25, reduced from $100. No way is it worth $100 Positives: free shuttle to and from and friendly staff.... More

Hilo Hattie's is always there for the Hawaiian tourist to find all their souvenirs in one location. The selection is typically large, too. There are clothing items galore, jewelry, trinkets, knick knacks, food- you name it. Just make sure to find a coupon book before you go because there are ALWAYS coupons for Hilo Hattie's around the island. Additionally, they... More

My husband and I are in our mid twenties and stopped here on our honeymoon while doing the tourist thing. We had a rented car and were told never to leave anything in there so my husband had a backpack with all our stuff. The staff saw young with bag and three of them followed us around to the point... In the days of very few free things left to do in Honolulu, Hilo Hatties is still one of them. Now, of course the merchandise in the store isn't free. But, they have a shuttle service that runs from Waikiki to their flagship store. We had been to Hilo Hatties on an earlier trip to Honolulu (drove ourselves). This time... More

These places were on all 5 islands we visited. They are kind of like the corner quick stop only some had pineapples and oysters (with pearls inside). They have lots of stuff made in either Philippines or China so you can say you bought it in Hawaii. Still a neat store to look around. Nice and friendly people. We got... More

So since moving here this is in all the magazines. Stopped in to see what the fuss was. If you are wanting a wide selection of ugly aloha shirts this is your place. Otherwise do the shop at the Dole plantation...just don't see the attraction.
