The view from up there was fantastic, and the climb up was slightly strenuous but bearable, since the weather wasn't too hot. But we were quite surprised at the climb we had to make since I thought we would just get off the bus and walk a couple of minutes to a lookout.

It had always been my goal to climb Diamond Head and now I have done it. We did not start off as early as we would have liked but got there around 9.30am. We took the bus from outside the Ilikai and the bus driver told us where to get off. If you have booked tickets on the trolley, the trolley... More

It sounds so simple, not even a mile. But that 0.8 miles is STRAIGHT UP! The view was amazing, however, well worth the hike. Didn't really need the flashlight that was suggested. It's very windy up top, which was great after that climb. You can really see the structure of the crater from the top, and every way you turn... More

I visited Diamond Head crater on April 27th; my last day in Hawaii. The trail is a bit challenging, but I am overweight and not in the best shape and did not have too much trouble. Just take your time and carry plenty of water. I went during the hottest part of the day, but the tradewinds blow constantly and... More

Diamond head is beautiful from afar and the views from the top are amazing. Go early in the day. It gets very hot inside the crater.

Diamond Head Crater is described as strenuous, which it probably is for those that do not exercise. For those that consider working out a mandatory life requirement like brushing your teeth, it is pretty easy. We are no spring chickens, but were able to get to the top in 30 minutes without breaking a sweat (it was a fairly cool... More

From the bottom of the crater to the top, it only takes 30 minutes. Small kids can hike to the top. Coming down takes only 15 - 20 minutes. Take some water with you, too.

What can I say, it nearly killed me, ohh but the view! I have never seen anything like it. You don't have to be fit to climb Diamond Head, but be prepared wear good walking shoes. There are plenty of stops along the way to take photos and have a break, it is pretty high and the trck is a... More

Would definitely do again. We went early; still crowded, but not overly so. Our party of 4 all had good walking shoes with closed toes. (no flip-flops, although we saw them and people wearing them struggling).
