Don't be fooled, on a hot day, or even on a cooler day when the sun is high, this ca no be a very tough trek. But regardless, the effort is very much worth it. Try to get in early of possible and take water with you.

We ran up Diamond Head crater and really enjoyed the views. It is only $1/person if you walk in (or $5 per car). We ran up from downtown Waikiki, which was no problem. Expect crowds as over 1 million people visit each year.

This historic site is a must see. The hike was invigorating and the views were amazing. Go early to get parking and only costs $1 to walk in. If you drive, you pay $1 entry fee and $5 car fee. We got there around 7 am and parked at the scenic overlook and then walked through the tunnel and then... More

There's really not that much to say here - you just have to go up Diamond Head if you want to see what Oahu really is. It's not an easy hike, with steep grades and stairs and even a spiral stairway, but once you're atop the crater you'll really thank yourself for taking the effort to get up there. You'll... More

This a great hike for cardio. Many steps, best to go early when it's not too hot and bring some water.

We went up Diamond Head on our recent trip to Waikiki. As a fitness freak, I was keen as a bean to go up. We caught the bus there from Kuhio Avenue. It took about 10 minutes. The bus fare is 2.50 per adult and 1.25 per child under 17. There is a short walk to the entrance of Diamond... More

We took the bus from the port. Plenty of sun screen, wide brim hat, water, and comfortable sneakers with good tread or hiking shoes are a must to conquer the switchbacks up to the summit. We hiked the trail to the summit at Diamond Head mid morning. There are sufficient rest stops and lookouts along the trail to take in... More

Three of us in our late 60's undertook the hike to the summit of Diamond Head, a 560' increase in elevation. The trail is steep, somewhat uneven (but footing was very good on the dry day that we ascended), and narrow in spots. We took our time, often passed by younger, more athletic persons, and did not feel rushed at... More

The view from Diamond Head is beautiful but it seems to be the touristy thing to do. It is crowded and parking is difficult. The hike itself is very doable but the pretty part is not really along the way. Too many people for me and many spectacular views elsewhere.

A hike up Diamond Head is a must for all tourists to Waikiki Beach. It provides a beautiful view of the surrounding area and you can image what went on there during WWII. Good opportunity for some great photographs.
