This was a great hike for the entire family. The entire hike is paved and has steps. This is very cool for people that want to view breathtaking scenery or that like history. Make sure you take plenty of water as it does get hot. It was very crowded on the day we visited.

It was too windy that day --- a partially cloudy too with rain in b/w the time we were up there. I would love to go there again when it's not raining or being a cloudy day.

Take water with you and a good pair of shoes (no flip-flops or sandals because the walk way is uneven for those summershoes. Hiking shoes are not necessary, a good pair of Sneakers is enough) When you walk the stairs inside it is extremly humid. Avoid going up during the hottest hours of the day and be aware that the... We had an amazing time! The hike was wonderful and our guide was the best you could ask for. Greg, the guide, shared interesting facts and was very attentive to all of those in our group. Most definitely would recommend that you use Oahu Nature Tours (ask for Greg as your guide); you will not regret it.

This hike was one of the highlights of our trip. Go early as it gets hot and crowded. (Like 7am). I am 60+ and not in the best shape and was able to enjoy the hike. Bugs at the top were irritating so wear bug spray. Pretty crowded at the top. If you can't make the hike the views of... More

Be prepared to walk a distance to see this. The trail is very busy and not friendly. On a hot day we looked at it at 9 am (after finding out there parking lot was full) and said no way.

The hike is not that long, but try to do this early in the day when it is cooler. There is little shade and the walking paths are sheltered from any sea breezes, making it really warm. The view from the top of the hike is nice to see but nothing to brag about. There was a man at the... More

It was not much to view, but the fact that you were inside the crater of the volcano was oddly cool. If you love to hike and want to climb to the top for the view, this is your place. We just got a shaved ice and "took 5" and that was nice too.

The hike up is far from pleasant with the heat and tourists lined up like ants. There will be someone breathing down your neck the entire way up and down. However, the view of Waikiki from up there is simply amazing. By far the best viewpoint in Oahu.
