This isn't your typical hike but make sure you wear good shoes and bring water. The trail is made up of stairs, paved and unpaved walkways and tunnels. Beautiful view from the top and the hike wasn't nearly as bad as we were anticipating. More

The hike is not bad at all. Definately worth the view. Takes some time, but it will work off all that vacation food you've been eating.... Definately worth the effort! More

Great views, the walk up was beautiful and well kept. Bring lots of water and light clothing. Make sure you are not claustrophobic as you have to go through a tunnel. More

We caught the bus to to the starting point & went early when it's a cooler. Although it looks hard work with lots is steps it isn't that bad & view makes up for it. Took some fab photos of Wakiki. More

My husband and I went to Honolulu twelve years ago and climbed Diamond Head. It was neat to see Waikiki Beach from above. Since then stairs and a platform have been added so there's no need to climb up those seventy-four steps in the dark. "The Bus" will drop you off across the street and return you to your hotel... The trail is not as hard as some of the reviews would make you think. I am 50 lbs overweight and the trip to the top was not a problem. Yes you are gaining 500 feet of elevation but the trail is good and in the steep areas you have stairs. I would recommend that you take a bus to... More

I kind of expected a more "amazing" view once I hiked to the top of Diamond Head, but it's just a flat area of land...nothing spectacular. If you're able to climb to the edges of Diamond Head then the view is spectacular, however. More

It takes a little over an hour to go up and down Diamond Head. More if you stand at the top and take in the view. It tends to get hot, so I would recommend lots of sunscreen, bring water and good sneakers/hiking shoes. I would go early to avoid peak sun. The terrain is rocky, even with the trail... More

We found the hike up to Diamond Head to be a good hike. It starts as a nice sloping paved walkway which then turns into a rocky natural path that ultimately goes through a dark tunnel which then turns into steep metal stairs which then turn into a metal spiral staircase. Wear good shoes! We were amazed at the number... More
