Very nice hike. The last 99 or so stairs getting to the top was a challenge for those of us who are afraid of heights, but once you are at the top, your safety awareness is more calm. Bring sunscreen or a wide brim hat. It is very sunny and windy without any shade for most of the hike. A... more

We took a cab up to the starting point of the walk and walked all the way back to the beach on our way down. It took us 30mins up and maybe a little quicker on the way down. My husband ran up it in 15 mins (if not less) The hardest part of the whole walk was the second... more

Diamond Head is a must. Make sure you take the bus, taxi, or trolley there though. The trolley and taxi take you to the entrance, the bus drops you off at the bottom of the road. We made the mistake of walking all the way from Waikiki. Someone said "oh it's just a mile up the road". Please take my... more

Following the advice of prior reviews on TA, we arrived early enough (8:30 am) to find a parking spot inside the crater and were properly prepared to make this hike (with water, sunscreen and appropriate footwear and clothing). Therefore, the hike for our family was enjoyable and not very difficult - harder than a neighborhood stroll but easier than a... more

The hike to the top of Diamond Head can be hard if you aren't in good shape, but it is worth it! The views are amazing - we even saw a great rainbow. The trail is 0.8 miles - it doesn't sound long, but much of it is uphill, including the 90 or so steps at the end (two sets... more

Our whole family made it up to the top. We took the advice of our Oahu Trailblazer guidebook and hiked up there when it first opened. The air was crystal clear and the city and beach sparkled. We had the viewing area all to ourselves and the walk up was steep but the challenge and the fact that we summitted... more

We decided to go on a Monday. We walked from our hotel (Waikiki Parc) until I sat at a bus stop (22 or 23 or 58 will take you there) refusing to go any further because my husband got lost and didn't know which way towards the Diamond Head Mountain. All the locals told us to take the bus. We... more

Diamond Head was the very first "thing" my husband and I did on our honeymoon in Waikiki. Unfortunately, we made a couple mistakes. The first was just 'randomly' seeing Diamond Head in the distance from our hotel and deciding to walk there. It wasn't that long of a walk, we were just unprepared and it was a VERY hot, sunny... more
