Very enjoyable hike

You can hike from the city or take a bus to get you closer. The crater is well managed and the footpath is safe and paved. There are bunkers and you kind of climb through them. A very fun hike. No stores on top so get your water at the visitor center when you pay for the entrance. It is... More

Go on a Saturday morning - you can go to the KCC Farmers Market after that, it is totally worth it. The climb is not too tough, but definitely not a place for baby strollers (we saw someone attempted). There are multiple stops for view points and they were amazing .. Try to go as early as you can possibly... More

Cost 1 dollar to enter, typical volcano, nice hike to the top and a lot of steps but it's worth it as fantastic views of Honolulu. Take water with you as you sweat a lot getting to the top. The place lacked somewhere to eat or a cafe but the shaved ice from the caravan unit when back down goes... More

I thought I would die when I saw where I had to hike, being so what over weight I thought I would never make it. With a few stops and taking my time I did it . It was so worth it.

Put on some decent walking shoes. With socks. Leave the flip flops at the beach. The walking trail up to the top offers it's own views from its many switch backs. Not too steep except for the long stairs near the top. At the top, you'll be inside the bunker that was part of the fire control system for Fort... More

When in Waikiki, you must take 1/2 day and hike the Diamond Head. You fly over past this as you come into the airport in Honolulu, and it is an awesome view from the top. I am 67 in fair to good shape, and there are places to stand or sit off to the side to rest or get your... More

Bring water! It's a long hike to the top of Diamond Head, but well worth the trip. Your shoes should be comfortable and broken in. Really, most anyone can make the hike, but just be prepared. Beautiful view up top.

We loved hiking this national monument but the lack of rest areas along the way and the poor quality of portions of the path make it quite treacherous. I disliked that I was unable to accomplish the final staircase of "99 steps." It was practically a 90 degree angle!

I was there on what was a non crowded day and had a delightful time. The hike itself is not that interesting - not out in nature. The reason to hike Diamond Head is for the expansive island views at the top including all of Honolulu.

I visited dimond head for sun rise, left Hotel about 5:30 ish and drove and quite a queue to enter. Hike to top a bit strenuous but my fitness level is none, amazing view and sun rise worth the hike. Have not seen as many selfie sticks in my life haha, bring water
