If you enjoy nature at her best and love beautiful pictures this is a must. Majestic Mountains with raging waters as a back drop Diamond Head is the perfect place to take awesome pictures.
We took a cab from Waikiki to Diamond Head (very reasonable) on a Saturday morning. There was an fun farmers market in front of Diamond Head. The cab dropped us off at the entrance, where we had hotdogs (ha) and then we hiked up. The hike was relatively easy, and most anyone with normal walking capabilities can make it up....

I am 55 years old and the hike was fine. I could not make it up the last three staircases as I am afraid of heights. My daughter did make it to the top and took pictures for us. The hike was fairly easy as some of the trail is paved.
Make sure you go early or late to avoid the sun as it gets really hot. It is quite difficult. I am a slightly overweight moderetly fit female in my early forties. I found it hard but do-able just have rests and water and it is OK. Took me about 1/2hr each way. You know you are near when you...

If you go, be ready for a hike up the crater. Once you reach the top, its well worth it. You'll be glad you made the climb. I highly recommend it, unless you can't handle steep trails and steps. View is tremendous.
Wonderful hike up to the peak! Make sure to go early in the morning before it gets too hot... Enjoy!
This was a great experience! I think I lost a few good pounds getting to the top but we did it! and I had one of my boys on my shoulder most of the way up. It is very hot, not much shade and a long walk up and children can get very tired and hot. They do however get...

Great views at the top. Hike is moderate, though fairly steep towards the end. I'm not sure older people could make it to be honest. Best to take a car - if you walk from Waikiki, it's a long haul. Definitely worth doing while you are in Honolulu.
Definitely worth the hard work to walk up, the views really are amazing of Waikiki. Walk includes stairs, tunnels and steep slopes, but all fairly easy and safe. Took me about an hour and a half, but I did spend a while at the top. I would go again
