This site is amazing. So much to see and it's 1$ to enter. Bring water and sports shoes. Travel light as you have a good 40 minutes to walk up. Once you are at the TOP have your smartphone or camera to take pictures! I was amazed!

We made this our first stop at the day as the sun was rising, and it was perfect. We are not in the best of shape, but had no issues going up and down the trails. However, it is very narrow and not paved, which can cause issues with keeping your balance. Going down was trickier as there were so... More

Get there early: 7am if possible. The car park fills up fast and the early start will also avoid the midday sun. Drinks, hats and sunscreen are recommended. If you turn left after the tunnel, you'll go up the scenic route but most visitors were going up the right path so descending that way was harder because of the traffic... More

Took the public bus from Waikiki to bus stop (near community college) located about mile from park entrance within crater (you have to walk a bit to crater entrance which is after and beyond a short tunnel (if in doubt, ask bus driver)... Entrance fee only $1.00 and then you follow trail up to top which are really old army... More

We enjoyed hiking to top and just chilling while looking at spectacular views of ocean, city, crater, and island.

Because we were staying on the North Shore, we didn't get there as early as we would have liked, so it was pretty warm, but we were able to get a spot in the parking lot. It is a long walk up and some areas are uneven, or have steep stairs, but it is worth it for the views at... More

My husband and I actually walked to Diamond Head from our hotel on Waikiki beach. It was about a 2.5 mile walk - nothing too bad. I wouldn't call us super athletes, but it was a great alternative to the bus. It also gave us an opportunity to see more of the island up close. The hike up Diamond Head... More

It's great to see in the morning when the sun's rising or sunsetting ,make sure you take a jacket! You can see diamond Head from being on the beach and be ready to go to next day because you will want to see it. Enjoy every moment there and post pictures : ) It has been years since we were... More
