Owner description: --Winner of the 2014 Arizona Tourism Award!-- The Copper Art Museum is Arizona's newest art museum located in the former copper town of Clarkdale, a USA City Beautiful Movement town founded in 1912. Clarkdale was built by Senator W. A. Clark "America's Copper King." The museum's collection is the "largest return of copper, "back" to both Clarkdale and the "Copper State" and showcases what man created with the red-metal while it was away. The Copper Art Museum features exhibits of copper art and collections for study, which were made by coppersmiths, soldier artists and braziers; many of whom were masters in their trade. Artifacts displayed have an emphasis on American and European works-of-art from the 16th - 21st century. The affinities and history of copper is also featured and is very fascinating, bringing forth forgotten stories, legends and mysteries.

We spent a wonderful few hours at the Copper Art Museum. The name is a bit of a misnomer since there is much more than just art at the museum. There is history, mythology, and chemistry as well. The curator/manager, Drake, is a fountain of information. He is a copper maven. What a wonderful collection. As my son cleverly remarked,... More

This is a fascinating museum. If you think, "What could possibly be interesting about copper?" - well, there are so many answers and surprises that await you. This copper museum is reportedly one of only three in the world. This museum is a treasure that will not be hidden much longer.

Thank you for the 5 star review! Over the course of history, copper has been used in the manufacturing of nearly everything. Architecture, cookware, military art, drinkware, etc. As the smelter town for Jerome, Arizona's mining it was Clarkdale's job to produce and export their copper products to the world. However, no one can really tell you what all of... More

Spent a night in Cottonwood, Az and decided to drive just around the corner to Clarkdale to visit this museum. So glad we did! It recently opened in the old high school, a lovely building being beautifully restored. It includes seven individual rooms that show how copper has been used for many items. Military, kitchen, wineries etc. You follow copper... More

I had been at a women's outing and a few of them were discussing this. They were saying fabulous things! So we brought our dear neighbor and her dear friend visiting from India. We loved this place. So beautiful, very well done.
