this is a great area for tourists to spend some nice quality time going to many shops that are open year round. I like to support them due to the fact my wife and I spend time in Newport and these people stay open for the year round tourists and those who live here as well. The shops are well... More

There were many interesting shops to poke around in even in the middle of Jan. I really recommend Isherwood Company for a great and reasonable priced selection

This was a really neat spot to take a break. It had a nice pier that you could walk on and had a number of places to sit and watch the water.

Great restaurants, upscale harbor tours, shopping - great area rain, snow, or shine. Depending on time of year may have to pay for parking. Walkable from in-town hotels and B&Bs and in the middle of pretty much all center town activities, even skating. International boat shows held here.

enjoyable shopping and views. There are many types of places to shop from Tshirts to fine art. It is a bit crowded like most of these types of places are.

The boats moored at the wharf are all dressed up in lights for the holiday season and look festive in the evening. There are cozy bars to duck into for a drink or a bite. Just people watching is fun too. Some nice arty shops to browse as well. Very nice place for a walkabout.

Lovely shops with pretty things, most of which the average person can't afford. Lots of nice restaurants and lots of wharf areas that run off of Thames St. - an enjoyable walk on a sunny afternoon.

Went here to browse while visiting for the day. The shops were nice but pricey. If you go in the off season, I would recommend parking across the street. There is no charge at the meters. If you go to the lot at the wharf, they charge for parking. We had reservations for dinner and ended up paying for parking... More

We walked through this area in December, so it was fairly quiet. The shops were open and the weather was good for December (almost 60 degrees). We were not very impressed with the general area though (relatively small area). We did eat at one of the restaurants that had a very good pulled pork plate.
