I enjoyed seeing this house. However after we left I did some research myself and saw some of the information the tour guide gave was not correct. Do a little homework before you leave!!

Every summer I visit this beautiful home and never tire of the history and absolute peaceful beauty of it. Best tour of any mansion in Newport. It is as if Doris Duke just stepped out and you are her guest. Her personal items are displayed with respect and tour guides reflect much feeling for her life and social concerns ie... More

Ms. Duke was an interesting woman who lived in an interesting summer home. The display of her art collection, alone, is enough to make one's head spin. The tour gives the visitor a glimpse into her many interests (and quirks). The mansion and grounds are beautiful.

This woman was an Art Collector for the love of art. She decorated her homes with her art and she lived with it all around her. Rough Point is not to be missed. Check for tours of her home, it is always a separate ticket.

Doris Duke's home is a jewel of art, history and nature. Knowledgeable docents explain the wonderful collection of masterpieces of art and fine architectural detail, while the grounds are a perfect mix of garden, grass and sea. I visited on a Sunday when RPM Voices of Rhode Island offered a spirited and interactive concert that transformed and enthralled. Add this... More

This house was built by Doris Duke's father; the house and furnishings are spectacular with many pieces of art and period furniture. The ocean walk bridge is at the end of her property and provides beautiful scenery. The gardens were pretty. The tour was informative about the house and Doris Duke's interesting life.

Unlike the Preservation properties, you are taken thru the property by a guide. Doris Duke, her history and property are amazing. Well worth the little extra $ to get in. Go on a nice day to enjoy the one of a kind grounds.

What a great experience! Our tour guide knew all the ups and downs to this beautiful place. Every Crack and crevice of this mansion had a history and we were given a thorough walk-through of it all and Doris Duke's time spent there.

The house is Elegant and combined with our tour guide John made it the best of all the homes we saw in Newport. We were given a great sense of the home, who owned it last and how it was lived in. So many of the decorations (ie. art ) were unusual. Museum in a home setting down to the... More

This tour was led by a guide. That can be a downfall of some tours if the guide is not a good host but we had a great one, full of stories. I loved that we were able to ask her questions about the house and of Doris Duke. We spend quite a bit of time on the property after... More
