Prior trips to Newport, we had always done the other mansions (Marble house, Breakers, Elms, etc.) this one was on the "to do list" and it did not disappoint. Very informative and just really neat to see. I think the view and grounds are my favorite of any mansion. Take the time to stop by!

Doris Duke was one of the more interesting people from this area, so that made this tour more interesting than some others. The grounds and views were awesome.

Very informative tour of the mansion. The grounds and location out on the point were the high point for me. The tour itself was great too and what an interesting woman was Doris Duke! We learned a lot about Newport history, also. If I could sneak in and live in the glass room where the camels were housed during the... More

Roughpoint sits on about 11 acres at the end of Belleview Ave and has a 270 degree view of the ocean. It is supposedly the only house that still has guided tours and ours was excellent and lasted 75 minutes. Don't miss the gardens hidden by the tall hedges near the front of the property. We left with a much... More

This mansion was recommended to us by the owners/innkeepers of the B & B where we were staying. The tour guide (which was a real person) was full of information and gave us the opportunity to ask questions. The tour group was also small. The history of the Duke family was very interesting. Can't imagine inheriting the money that Doris... More

Fully furnished with owners possessions, much more interesting than empty mansions. Beautiful grounds and gardens too.

This mansion is not part of the Preservation Society that takes care of most of the Newport Mansions, but we wanted to visit and tour the gorgeous house with topiary camels on the lawn. We were not disappointed! I enjoyed the live tour from our guide because we could ask questions and she gave a lot of details about the... More

It was a while ago (2009) that my husband and I visited this mansion. We went to a few of the mansions along cliffwalk and this was my favorite. Besides it's stunning location, the house itself is really something to see. The history given by the tour guide, of the late Doris Duke is quite interesting. There are priceless works... More
