Visited here yesterday on a beautiful Summer day. Have been to many other Newport Mansions but this one was special. Completely furnished as the wealthy Doris Duke left it. Wonderful artwork, tapestries, furnishings, grounds, design style...and the view!!! Meticulously maintained. Included some of her clothing...a very personal glimpse into the lifestyle of a glamorous philanthropic woman! Our tour guide Maureen... More

We had just planned to visit Newport for the day, but returned the next day to tour Rough Point. Glad we did. Our guide was excellent. Art, architecture, lifestyle, landscape views, interesting stories about camels, dogs and neighbors and Doris Duke's impact on Newport preservation. .Well worth the admission price.

Unlike the other mansions, Rought point is a guided 1 hour and 15 minute tour around the mansion. The inside of the house is nice , but nothing like the Breakers or the Marble house. It was interesting to hear about the owners and history of rough point mansion. A definite visit , the grounds are unbelievably beautiful!

This is the mansion of Doris Duke, it remains as it was when she lived in it until her death. If you like mother of pearl, you have got to see her bedroom. It is a guided tour, which I found extremely interesting.

3 years ago we did a couple of the Mansions. Last year we did three more. This year we only did Rough Point and it was probably one of my favorites. I loved the tour and all the History involved. It was so interesting to know that Doris Duke had celebrated her 80th Birthday at the House and it was... More

This was a spur of the moment visit. Great mansion, and until recently actually inhabited by Doris Duke until her death.

The interior furnishings were very interesting. Ms. Duke collected tapestries, paintings, furniture and Asian porcelain.

This was a separate tour its pricey but I think if you are in Newport it's a must see attraction. Doris Duke was a very RICH interesting person who lived her life to its fullest. Guide gave a us a small glimpse into the rich ladies life.

We visited a lot of Newport Mansions in the past. This mansion, which belonged to Doris Duke, was a new one for us. Glad we arrived 45 minutes early to have plenty of time to explore the grounds, ocean views, and gardens. Quite spectacular. Our tour guide (Amelia) was great! Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The house was very interesting as... More
