We learned so much about Doris Duke chose to live and to decorate her Newport home! Our guide was well versed and quirky in a wonderful way. The estate feels cozier and more authentic than most because it IS just that, still furnished exactly as Doris left it for all of us to enjoy. And hey, who doesn't want to... More

Ms Duke had fine taste and it is on display everywhere in this "home". Even more than the Elms this was a someone's house. The story of the house and the last owner make the excellent tour worthwhile. The art was probably the most spectacular of all the houses I visited. If the weather is favorable spend some time outside.... More

This is Doris Duke's home just as she left it. The mansion actually seems homey. Great tour and beautiful grounds.

Thank you for visiting Rough Point and taking the time to leave a review. We're so glad you enjoyed your tour and the welcoming vibe of Rough Point. It's the only house museum in Newport to be experienced as its last owner left it, and it really does feel like a home. To stay up-to-date on what's happening at Rough... More

This by far was the most stunning mansion we saw!! It's sitting on a point that is just amazing. The waves crashing on the rocks and seagulls constantly singing to you. This home/mansion has them all beat! It is a HOME!

Rough Point is located on the end of Bellevue Avenue. This mansion is NOT a part of the larger group of mansions open for tour. In the "off season" it is only open a few days a week, near week-ends, so if you're interested in going be sure to check their schedule. This home belonged to the Duke family who... More

Tour guide was excellent. Learned a lot about Doris Duke. Despite its size, house was far less "museum-like" than the others.

Stunning. Just Stunning. What a fabulous place. The house is large but so beautiful and cozy. It felt like home inside and not so much a mansion. You could definitely imagine yourself living there everyday. Each room was unique and perfectly stylish. Being able to combine different eras in a room and have it all flow beautifully takes talent—mission accomplished.... More

This was Dorris Duke's place. She did so much for the town of Newport, preserving many of the houses, not only mansions. This house was not included on the 5 mansion tour but well worth the visit. Her life was fascinating and the tour takes you through each room with a history of her life and the items in the... More

The house was wonderful and a knowledgeable tour guide told some good stories. Right now there is a modern ceramics display throughout the house that were inspired by the house. I only wish we could have walked the grounds....it was pouring rain the day we went.

It was wonderful to see the house come to life with the guides, having seen the house in the movie Doris & Bernard. A must-see movie and must-visit house.
