A tour of Doris Duke's Rough Point estate will cost more than any other such tour in Newport that I know of. The woman selling tickets in the house said they appeal to the discerning visitor, that is, not the hordes packing The Vanderbilt trophies, but the tour itself did not really distinguish itself to me. It's a wonderful house... More

Such an interesting story attached to this amazing mansion. Take the time to at least tour Bellevue Ave and see these decadent mansions but also learn the story of philantropist Doris Duke. It is heartwarming, indeed, to learn the extent that this amazing heiress participated in giving throughout her life.

Doris Duke's Newport home is remarkable. Our tour guide was very informative and the house, art works and grounds were very impressive. Ticket prices were $25, but the tour was certainly worth it.

Doris Duke was quiet a lady and this mansion reflects that.Located on Bellvue Avenue, It has been keep the same way as it was during the Gilded Age. It was wonderful but the price of $25/ person to view it shocked me a bit.

This isn't just a historic home, its also an art museum! Doris Duke had amazing taste and if you want to see original Renoirs and priceless Chinese antiquities as well as the best ocean views of any of the mansions pay the 25 bucks and enjoy!

I love Rough Point! Second visit there, $50 for two of us. Well worth it. Very informative tour guide (not the audio tour) who obviously cares a great deal about Rough Point and the Doris Duke legacy. There are original furnishings, antiques, art work and restoration projects. This place is Grand and yet feels lived in. The location is right... More

After touring the other mansions along Cliff Walk, I was not sure my husband would be up to another tour, but we both enjoyed the story of, and the history behind Rough Point. You must hear the story of the camels and their stay in the conservatory. The furnishings are original and magnificent. This is a "must see" when in... More

I have toured several of the Newport mansions and think this one is one of the more interesting ones because a) Its history is unique. Doris Duke was a colorful woman and more adventuresome than the matriarchs of the other mansions. There is a small museum there that has some DD memorabilia. b) The grounds of all the mansions are... This Mansion is so beautiful. The grounds are a must see. We walked around the grounds for about an hour and could have stayed longer. Really enjoyed this Mansion.
