A Very Nice Overview of Newport Sights

This 1.5 hr tour provides an excellent orientation to the history of Newport and explains how Newport went from one of the 5 top US ports thru the Gilded Age and on to its current tourism and boating based economy. Our guide Ann was articulate and knowledgeable and we left the tour with a sense of what it was like... More

Our driver Jim was very informative and we saw so many things. I'm very glad the visitor center recommended the tour. It helps to do this first so you can get a feel of the lay out of the city. Bonus was the cost for off season. Definitely a must do

We enjoyed the trolley tour. Our driver was Ann who was very pleasant and gave a nice commentary and insight to what we were seeing as we toured. She had a great sense of humor and was very personable.

We had such a wonderful tour with Jim. He made it so fun and very interesting but the problem was the design on the windows blocked some of the view and was in all my pictures. I was so disappointed. They shouldn't have anything on the windows. If weather permits, get a tour with open windows.

This is a very nice way to get your bearings when visiting Newport for the first time. Sit back and relax and let the tour operator deal with the traffic. Our tour operator was very informative and funny. We got to see most of the "gilded age" mansions for which Newport is famous and later were able to pick one... More

We had Ron as our driver/guide. He really knew his stuff and was very nice. We took the 4 hour tour. Since we had all day why not? It included 2 mansions. And it was perfect . The wealth that is here is incredible. Go take the tour and relax.

Firstly I have to say that their job is made easier by the fact that Newport is such a pretty place with a lot of history however the trolley bus tour was done professionally and the information provided by the driver was mostly interesting (taking into account we did not know all the people mentioned as we are from the... Our driver, Jim, gave us an excellent and informative narrative about the Newport mansions and their wealthy owners, and took us on the ten mile scenic coast road and along Bellevue Avenue where all the mansions can be found. The tour took about 2 hours and there was more information than we could take in. It was a very good insight... More

We took this trolly tour 3 years ago & it was wonderful, very professional & so informative. This time we were there with my brother & sister in law & it was so different. It was so poorly done & such a waste of our time. George, our guide, was much more interested in discussing the stores we passed &... More

We took this tour to get a sense of Newport and checkout at least one house in a tight time frame. The benefit was having someone else driving as well as a description of what we were seeing. What I had a problem with is the rewriting of american history that was part of the tour. The summer White House... More
