Owner description: Sightsailing of Newport offers daily sailing cruises, tours and private sailing charters in Newport aboard the sailing vessels Aquidneck, Sightsailer and Starlight. Aquidneck and Sightsailer were built specifically to take people sailing who have never sailed before. Both are very smooth sailing; seasickness is never an issue. Both offer tickets for public sails and are available for private charters. Aquidneck is an 80' schooner. She is comfortable, stable and offers a relaxing sailing experience. She sails comfortably with up to 49 guests. Sightsailer is a 46, comfortable yet racy sloop, which gives a greater sensation of sailing than Aquidneck. She sails comfortably with up to 13 guests. Starlight is an O'Day 34' sloop that offers the feel of sailing on a private yacht since it sails by private charter only with just 2-6 guests. Starlight is luxurious and comfortable.Aquidneck sails 7 days a week from May-October.Sightsailer and Starlight sail 5 days a week (Thursday thru Sunday)in July and August and weekends only in June and September.

We visited Newport and wanted to go on a sail boat ride. Being the end of the tourist season there were not many selections since the boating season was wrapping up. I did have a few companies to choose from but I picked Sightsailing because I really liked their online video. We were very pleased. The boat was a beauty,... More

We were travelling through Newport and had only a few hours to explore. Our Bay sight seeing trip had been cancelled and we wandered along Bowen's warf hoping to find another trip out into the Bay. The Aquidneck was ready to sail and with only a few minutes to go, they waited while we sorted out our car, before providing... More

Recently went on the starlight, one of sightsailer's smaller sailboats. These boats fit about 12 people including the crew, so it's a lot more intimate than their bigger boats. If you have a group of ten it would be perfect unless you don't mind getting to know the rest of the people in the boat. Either it's a great way... More

Heading into Newport over the beautiful bridges we wanted to take a sailboat to see some on water beauty. We went on the Aquidneck, but were a little disappointed that we barely left the dock. It was a 90 minute trip and we saw the "House on the Rocks" and Fort Adam but that's about it. We spend the time... More

Hi, thanks for taking the time to write and let us know that your experience didn't match your expectations. Due to the nature of sailing, one often must make crisscrossing "tacks" when traveling upwind on part of the trip. This can sometimes cause you to see the same sight more than once, although from a different angle. And eventually, the... More

I wanted to do something on water for my friend's birthday and this was perfect. I chose to go on Starlight since it was a much smaller boat, with only about 10 people in total on it. It felt like our own chartered boat! We went sailing for around 2 hours and shared a bottle of champagne (you can bring... More

Perfect day, perfect sail. Our first time sailing and it was heavenly for these 2 Midwestern land-locked sailors. Smaller boat let us feel it all. My husband was even able to drive a little bit. Shout out to our crew, Becca and John, who patiently answered all our questions. Highly recommended.

We picked the right boat for the light winds we experienced that July day. This unique design sailed smartly around the harbor. Captain John and mate Rebecca were capable of answering our questions without being pushy with unrequested information. If you're looking for a nice, relaxing but informative cruise, this is it.

Enjoyable trip. Comfortable boat, beautiful sunset, perfect weather, knowledgable and outgoing crew and beverages were included on the sunset cruise. We were torn whether or not to take a larger boat but feel we made the right decision. Our group was smaller and everyone easily interacted, if they chose, with each other and the crew. Several in our group struggle... More

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful sunset sail! Friendly and knowledgeable crew, perfect temperature and wind, and a beautiful sunset! Champagne, beer, soda and water all available. Booked online as the space fills up quickly! Well worth the money!
