My husband and I took a sunset cruise on the Madeleine when we visited Newport in September. It was probably my favorite part of our stay. The captain was extremely knowledgeable and the crew was very friendly. The sunset over the harbor was incredible and very romantic. I didn't want the voyage to end! The free champagne and beer is... We are so glad the sail on Madeleine was your favorite part of your stay in Newport. Her sunset sail is probably our most popular cruise we do. We have 5 different itineraries that we offer on both our boats so there is something for everyone. Perhaps next time you might want to try our Lighthouses and Mimosas cruise. But... More

A group of us (14) took an afternoon cruise on the Madeline sailboat as part of a 25th anniversary military reunion. It was very nice of the crew to announce the presence of our group and we were given a nice round of applause. The crew was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and very professional as we cruised the harbor for an hour... More

We had a beautiful, relaxing sunset sail on the Madeleine. The crew was very professional and offered us complimentary champagne to enjoy during the cruise. They even let guests help hoist the sails if they wanted to. We enjoyed our trip and the great reggae music that they played; I think we would have liked it even more if it... More

We are happy to hear you loved Madeleine's sunset sail. The sunset sail with champagne and beer is our most popular trip on Madeleine. We offer several trips on a couple different boats so you can have a different boating experience every time you come on board. Our motor yacht, Rum Runner II was built back in 1929 and was... More

My sister and I took our group of 4 adults and 7 kids on the 90 minute scenic cruise of Newport on the Madeleine. It was absolutely beautiful and we learned a bunch about Newport. The staff was very informative and let each of the kids steer the boat while we were sailing. For 25-30 dollars, it was definitely worth... More

Glad you enjoyed it so much that you'll be back to cruise with us again. Between our 2 boats (Madeleine and Rum Runner II), we have 5 different itineraries we do. We have so many frequent sailors that return to cruise with us each time they are in Newport that we thought it would be great to offer more than... More

We enjoyed our morning light house tour on The Rum Runner II.It was nice to see the water view of Newport,Jamestown and Narragansett Bay.The informative Captain and his outgoing first mate gave a good historical tour of famous people, homes , sea vessels and places of interest. This vessel has been in operation since 1929. After prior days of continuous... More

Our Lighthouses and Mimosas cruise on Rum Runner II is our newest and fast becoming our most popular tour. Rum Runner II gets right up close along the shoreline so there are some outstanding views of several lighthouses at the southern send of Narragansett Bay - we find that includinng Mimosas, croissants, bottled water and ice tea compliment this late... My family visits Newport at least once each summer, and often several times. This summer was the 4th time that we booked the schooner, The Madeleine, for a 90-minute scenic day sail around Narragansett Bay. This 72' schooner can accommodate up to 49 passengers, though it's rarely that packed. It departs from Newport harbor (Bannister's Wharf) and sails south in... More

Classic Cruises of Newport is the oldest operating schooner tour company in Newport and we've been sailing Madeleine here for almost 25 years. We booked an afternoon sail on the Madeline, and a morning lighthouse tour on the Rumrunner II. Newport is always best experienced by the water since she is The Sailing Capital. And going on both Madeleine and Rum Runner II give two very different experiences out there as well. While Madeleine offers a great sailing experience, Rum Runner II offers up close views with lots of history. We're so glad you rode and got to experience both.... More

Sailing Newport Bay, a cruise that almost put my sensory perception on overload, with my wife and adult daughter on a 72 foot Bermuda rigged schooner called Madeleine on the breathtakingly sunny day of June 16, 2014 with flat seas was cathartic in effect. This is a beautifully crafted two-masted wooden hull schooner that simply glides through the water. Upon... More

Thank you for your kind words - we think Madeleine is the best way to see Newport from the water. So many places along the waterfront are inaccessible so by touring on the water, you get to see so much more of what Newport is all about. More

We went out on the Madeleine for an afternoon sail the wind was perfect we had a great time on the boat. The 2 man and one woman crew was wonderful and very informative. If you have the good fortune to go out with good wind it is a great value and a good time.

Thanks for your review and I am so glad you had such an enjoyable time. Madeleine is a great vessel that sails exceptionally well. Newport has long been known as one of the sailing capitals of the world and the predominant wind here is South West which is so favorable to sailing in Narragansett Bay. We love to sail and... More
