This very small home town theater is a blast. Not many extra's , no food etc., you are allowed to bring in your own drinks. Parking is a hard to find so allow extra time for this. Be prepared to laugh a lot, you will enjoy and have fun.

We had a choice of 007, Tom Cruise, Hobbits or the Firehouse Theater on a frigid Sunday night in December. The theater is small and painted black. We sat in the back and still felt close to the stage. My husband and I took our 12 and 13 year old son and daughter who would have prefered the adult version... More

Visiting Newport on a girls weekend for my ummm...29th B'day! One of my surprises was one of the imrov shows. It was a lot of fun! Very entertaining. They included the audience in all the skits and even had me on the stage to serenade me for my Birthday. Def. worth a visit.

Couldn't recommend the BIT players highly enough. From the night I arrived in Newport RI to the day I left, I did not miss one weekend of seeing these incredibly talented improv players...sometimes I went both nights of the weekend. Show timings are perfect and because its BYOB you can start your week early by having a few drinks whilst... More

I'm a Rhode Islander, but don't get to Newport but once every couple of years. This summer my wife talked me into going, but we're getting old and the bar scene is no longer our cup of tea. Did a little research and read of an improv group called Bit Players (maybe The Bit Players?) who do their thing at... More

Loved this comedy show! You could go back every weekend and not see the same show twice. Comedians were friendly and entertaining. I could tell they really enjoyed what they were doing! Tickets are inexpensive. We called ahead and made reservations. BYOB. Get there early for parking. No parking lot, but those don't exist in Newport anyway!

The performers were energetic and clearly enjoy what they do which made them even more fun to watch. The skits were all created spontaneously based on audience suggestions. BYOB, (water and soda available there) have a couple of drinks and spend a couple of entertaining hours laughing out loud. A fun, affordable and different way to spend an evening out... More

This group of young, talented people know their stuff. They entertain you with Improv comedy skits that are fast-moving and funny. They use suggestions from the audience in their skits and they will do really silly things. It's BYOB, although they also provide bottled water and hot cocoa/tea. They even have a piano player before the show starts. Shows are... More

On a rainy Friday while on vacation in Newport, we caught the Bit Players at the Firehouse Theater. They are a live improv group that play in a converted Firehouse. The show was very funny and my family really enjoyed it. It’s BYOB and there is a liquor store across the street. Water and soft drinks are also offered in... More
