Decent surf but windy. $20 to get in on weekends and holidays; ugh. But free after 4pm! Had a great time.

This may be one of the worst beaches I've been to in a long time. It was crowded, the seagulls were aggressive and searched our bags despite us not having any food, and there was red algae everywhere. When I went in the water, the algae stuck to my legs and was pretty disgusting. On top of that, it smelled... More

Kids loved the waves and soft sand. Lots of brown/red fine seaweed which gets stuck in your bathing suit and is a real pain to remove. However, this seems to be the case at all the RI beaches. This beach has free showers (cold water only) and costs $10 during the week for parking. There were lifeguards on duty which... More

We only admired this beach from afar. We preferred to skip the $10 parking fee and park along a scenic roadway and lay on the rocks further down the road away from the crowd. The water looked too dirty too walk in and swim in; not as inviting as the Jersey beach. We enjoyed looking at the surfers from the... More

We like to walk on and explore beaches off season, when the parking is free (November to end of April) and there are no crowds. This beach has good surf, and there are often surfers in wet-suits. (It IS New England and chilly!) The wind does whip in most days and blowing sand can be a challenge. There is a... More

Pros: Close to downtown Newport, long sandy beach, very little users Cons: Windy, didn't realize there was beach parking and paid for the meters My first time in Rhode Island took me to the Newport area to visit the history and wonder of this beautiful seaside state. Easton's beach was on my places to go. Nestled between rocky cliff mansions... More

Offseason is Oct 1st-Memorial day If you're looking for a place to let your dogs run around and swim go here! It's not a highly populated beach so you dont have to worry about your dogs off leash. Also, the sand is very soft and nice to take a walk on. Don't have to pay to park in offseason. Inseason... More

The amenities look amazing at this beach but we didn't stay. We arrived to an unbelievable stench in the air. We were told that sewage had backed up from the pump station across the street and it was running into the swimming water. There are signs that warn you not to let your children play in the water in one... More

Couldn't believe it....8/20/13 Have been to this beach in the past and never experienced this..... We arrived early, and was surprised that the beach was not crowded....in fact, it almost looked deserted......we set up our sun shade, chairs and blanket close to the facilities......there was no wind......then we decided to go for a walk on the beach....it was low tide... Oh man you gotta love Rhode Island especially Newport and Easton's Beach. I took my family here and my kids had a blast with its rolling waves and scenic views. The really neat thing is that the waves don't get really high and there is an area off the beach where you can get food and buy sun tan lotion.... More
