Very unique drive with wonderful breaking waves over the rocks, elegant, awesome mansions, and don't miss the hundreds of kites being flown on weekends, some professionally built and very unusual, some stunt kites, and plenty of room to tailgate, ....it's all FREE !

This drive is scenic and historic; beautiful homes and mansions face the churning ocean . Sailboats in season, as well as larger ships ply the waters of the bay. Take a picnic lunch and watch the activity on a warm day. There are several places to stop and take pictures. We've been coming here every few years since the 60's... More

We did this before we went to dinner. It was a really nice little drive with a lot of places to stop and take pictures or relax and watch the sunset. It would be a great picnic spot!

Very nice scenery of the Newport coast and views of beautiful houses along the shore. Small cozy beaches, stopped at one to just walk around.

The views of the water were amazing. There were alot of places to pull off to get a better look. I would recommend doing the drive in both directions...There are different views depending on what direction you are traveling

It's great to drive along the water and see the giant houses. It's chilly though - we had to have our picnic in the car instead of outside. If you are in Newport definitely drive on Ocean Drive from Bellevue Avenue to the the Castle Hill Lighthouse (via the B&B).

The ocean drive is only about 10 miles long but offers interesting scenery. The lovely beaches, the rocky nooks, grand homes with beautiful gardens as well as the yacht club makes this drive well and truly worth doing. We actually drove it in each directions to enable us to appreciate both sides of the road.
