Fort Adams is the hidden jewel of Newport. We visited Fort Adams for the first time this month, after visiting Newport for years to see mansions and to picnic at Brenton Point. We paid for the tour, and it was the best money we spent in Newport! The guide was a walking treasure trove of interesting historical and military information.... More

a nice park with a fort to visit, if you are so inclined. You can sail, or watch people do it, or walk the trails.

A great place to visit. Overlooking Newport Harbor and the bay. Quiet and peaceful. Take the tour, the tour guide very knowledgeable, the views excellent! Gives you a good sense of history. The tunnels are the best part. A little creepy, but just a short walk. Mostly 6' foot ceilings, but a very short walk where you will need to... More

Went to 2014 festival there and had a fun time. Newport Storm beer was there with there impeccable beer. A lot of different vendors were there and there was food. They offered free tours of the park which was informational. They even toured in the walls of the fort. Beware - if you are claustrophobic, do not go in. The... More

I was pleased to discover they offered a AAA discount. The tour was well worth it, the guide was informative and entertaining, the fort impressive. A unique place, it's really huge. The tunnels were a highlight. Make sure you have a flashlight app on your phone before you go! (They provided flashlights but some were very weak.) There is also... More

We almost missed out on this tour because they looked closed, but they open at 1145 for the 1200 tour, and 1345 for the 1400 tour. They give a military discount which was appreciated. Tour is 1 hour and you get to see more than we anticipated. Took our kids who are 10 and 7. They had space to run... More

We went on Saint Patrick's Day and the tour was given by a wonderful Irishman with a great accent. It was so interesting seeing the fort, hearing the stories and going down into the listening tunnels. A great experience for the kids. I would highly recommend.

I loved this fort and it was the first I have ever been to. Jack was so informative and with only a few people on the tour it was perfect to get information about the history of the fort. I loved the tunnels and the hibernating bats. I think that it is sad that back in the 50's people destroyed... More

Fort Adams is a great place in the spring time, its very scenic. You'll find picturesque views views of sailboats dotting Narragansett Bay as well as the Newport Bridge reaching across it.
