Nice location to watch boats going out to sea or a concert. Nice drive away from town. The fort is ok to see but great place for picnic on lawn

Perfect location. Great caterer and service. Considering the thunderstorm that rolled in, they still pulled it off and the food was outstanding.

This place is totally off the beaten path but SO close to newport. Not by foot but by car. hike on top of the hill and you get a full view of the STUNNING newport waterfront, sailboats and the most perfect sunset you have ever seen. They have MANY events all through the summer and fall so look it up... More

We stumbled on this site quite late one afternoon, so didn't get to take the fort tour - but, we did walk around the fort and enjoyed the beauty of the harbor, the boats, and the atmosphere. there is a small gift shop that sells sandwiches and drinks (until about 4 pm). Also, on the property is the house where... More

A guided tour is a must if you are interested in military history and how the fort is constructed. Also includes a good ghost story. The walk round the headland is nice as well

Fort Adams is an extremely huge/large fortress on the coast of Newport, RI, full of history, and architecturally built to soundly withstand anything. There is a tour, but we missed being on it by minutes. Instead, we went on Newport Harbor Shuttle, which is your least expensive way to see sights from the water. Fare to ride harbor shuttle is... We didn't do the tour. Wish we did. But we definitely enjoyed the view and the sunset. It's a breath of fresh air. You can check out my mini movie of the place https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEN-z0P5MGc&index=4&list=PLgl_EdVA6fk-gJBJunE8NEhT85xotvju-
