My husband and I have relatives in the Hertel Avenue area so we have an opportunity to visit North Buffalo often. There are too many great restaurants to count or to frequent. However, we never leave without Buffalo pizza and wings. So many to choose from. This time we decided to play tourist and actually sightsee. We checked out Frank... More

Buffalo doesn't have too many safe, walkable neighborhoods, but North Buffalo, especially Hertel Ave. gives a feeling of times past. Interesting shops: coffee, book, cycling, furniture, clothing, sports bars, movie theater...it's all here and worth a stroll on a nice day....

some traffic-calming procedures along hertel avenue have added even more to the potential enjoyment of this chile-like (long and narrow) neighborhood, where they speak almost as many languages as the united nations, and more understandable, too.... pick up a copy of the unique buffalo rocket newspaper, neighborhood voice of long standing, and the north park theater (separate review) has been... It's fun to come to the Hertel Avenue strip to see what's new and different. There are always good places to eat and shops to stop into. Friday and Saturday nights are always "hopping."

Seems like many teachers live here and there are a lot of families. A great place to raise a family. Hertel needs some serious help with its food options though. Lombardos is delicious, you just can't go there very often or you'd break the bank. Kostas is also a good place.

I lived in North Buffalo for years, its the closest area I've found in the Buffalo to my Brooklyn home. The people are the coolest and a cultural mix of both young and old similar to park slope. Quiet and easy access to shopping, restaurants and Delaware park. So far was my favorite place to live. Still visit the shops... More

North Buffalo has some of the best architecture home wise in the city. Old well cared for gorgeous mansions. Its the heart of Buffalo's "little Italy" and home of the yearly Italian fest. A must see area if visiting Buffalo for the first time. Take a drive around and see the architecture then stop and eat at one of the... More

My store, The Antique Lamp Co. and Gift Emporium, has been on Hertel Avenue for over 15 years but it has only been recently that a renaissance has come to North Buffalo. Unique boutiques (such as ours!) and wonderful restaurants for every palate, have made it a wonderful place to spend the day. We hope everyone will visit Hertel Avenue... More

What a great place to raise a family. Fantastic resources everywhere. LOVE Hertel Ave business district and the great resturants and shops. One problem: send your kids to private schools
