Outstanding neighborhood of late 19th century homes, apartments, and businesses. A great example of a preserved and living neighborhood built before the automobile, and traditional home of Buffalo's "bohemian" culture. Allentown is probably the best of the bar districts in Buffalo with the most diverse crowd. From the Main St end gay bars, on to the Virginia Pl-area restaurants off Allen st. and near Delaware: Fat Bob's Smokehouse for a great summer patio and decent bbq and beer list; Mother's for late-night fine dining and a romantic patio and dining... Allentown is awesome. Tons of fun bars. Its not cheesy like the Chip Strip which is a bunch of young bridge and tunnel amateurs. Allen is where true locals hang out. For bars you have Colter Bay which is always packed for games and weekend nights. Gabriels gate for wings and beer. Frizzy's for photo booth. New York pizza for... More

It's not fancy...some might actually refer to a few of the bars as a hole in the wall but keep an open mind and you're bound to have a fabulous time. Dinner, drinking, darts and maybe even a date for breakfast can come from a night out on Allen. More
