I have been to the museum a few times. My husband and I enjoyed one of our first dates during the fall when they do a latern tour and put the home in morning. Fun facts and a lot of history of Murfreesboro.

One of the best historical home tours that I've been too in the area. Our guide, Bob, was knowledgeable and hilarious. I learned quite a bit and really enjoyed the pre tour video. Although, I hope in the future they decide to sell shot glasses in the shop--as I collect them from places I visit.

Superb facilitator/tour guide... combined not only history of the place, but gave an in-depth feel of the people and the times... meshed history, events and personalities in a captivating presentation. My only regret was not being able to take the Chickering pianoforte home with me.

Our guide was great. I was flummoxed by the floor plan and layout, and our guide kept the time frame and characters in order to explain the construction sequence of this unique museum. He remained attentive to our questions, and set a pace to keep us all engaged. Beautifully restored piece of history, and I'm so glad it's shared with... More

Thanks to Trip Advisor, I found this hidden gem on my last visit to Murfreesboro. It was very interesting to tour the home, watch the video and walk the grounds imagining what it must have been like to live during the time of the Civil War and watch history unfold right where you are standing. Conner was our tour guide... More

My 7 sisters and myself got together to celebrate 2 of their birthdays. We were staying in a bed and breakfast down the street from Historic House Museum. The tour guide Bob gave us a very informative. He took his time and answered all the questions we had. I would recommend visiting this home if you are in the area.

I enjoyed Conners presentation immensely, he provided many interesting historical facts in a humorous and entertaining manner. I felt he had a good balance of family, architectural and other history of the place. I would recommend this to anyone.

The Oaklands was built decades before the Civil War. Visiting the house was interesting to see how the landowners in the 1820's and '30's built up their holdings. This house was not the grand plantation home such as we expect from seeing movies such as "Gone with the Wind." Instead it started as simple 2 room house that was expanded... More
