The costumes were beautiful and the dances are authentic. It is held in an auditorium without too much ambience, but we enjoyed the performance very much. After the dances the dancers were outside to talk and have pictures taken. They are knowledgeable about the dances and the costumes. I especially admire the dancers who took the male parts and did... If you really would like to experience Alaska's Russian History and culture through ethnic folk dance and song, you must not loose this show when in Sitka. Performing at the Harrigan Centennial Hall close to the cruising dock in Sitka, this group is formed only by volunteer girls performing on stage with enormous enthusiasm and sympathy. Takes less than one... More

We have seen these dancers of Russian dances 3 times, most recently this past week. (You can't actually call them Russian dancers, because none of them are actually Russian.) Each presentation is a little different, although there are some dances which are always included. It is amazing how much effort and energy is given to the presentation of these dances,... More

With Sitka's mixed Russian history, it is so thrilling to see local young ladies learning and performing for us. They share true Russian folk dances as well as celebratory dances for weddings and such. They obviously train well, are very committed with the time and energy, and strive for authenticity. It was a joy to watch. Young ladies, about 40... More

This was my second time seeing the New Archangel Dancers, and it was just as much fun this time. This all women troop is made up completely of local volunteers, and they dance the male and female parts in this traditional Russian folk dances. The show is about 40 minutes, and includes some information about Alaska and Sitka history as... More

This show is a delight! The performers are local women who are presenting traditional Russian folk dances as part of Alaska's heritage. They wear traditional costumes and the women even play the men's roles and costumes. The show is full of energy and the ability of these performers to showcase some of the more rigorous Russian dance moves is amazing.... More
