Unbelievable wildlife tour -- a must do for any trip to Sitka!! When we got on the boat, Capt. Black asked us what sort of wildlife we wanted to see, and at the top of my list was BEARS...seemed crazy to me that we'd spot one from a boat, but with our captain's expertise and knowledge of the area, and... From start to finish, all of us were either laughing or learning from "Capt Black" the skipper. He truly is a "ONE MAN REALITY SHOW" and flat knows where to find the wildlife. The Capt. refers to his boat as a "Yacht" and although it is not monstrous, there's loads of room with only six passengers and spotless. Our family... More

Ignore the cheesy “Black Bart” name. Captain Mitch is a true Alaskan character with a fast boat and a narrative to match. We sure got our money’s worth… fur seals, sea lions, sea otters and humpback whales. A fast boat is a must on a 2 hour tour. We traveled a long way to get to the whales. Our day... More

We were recently in Sitka Alaska, June 2010 and were approached by a charming young lady that touted "Best Wildlife Tour in Sitka". My Husband and I accepted her invitation and I can tell you we were very pleased with that decision to go with Capt. Black Bart's Charters. This Captain is a sourdough of the first order, believe me.... More

We took a two hour wildlife viewing tour of Sitka sound with Mitch, the captain of a beautiful and FAST boat. He only takes 6 passengers which enables you to ask questions. He used to run fishing trips and is very knowledgeable about the area and knows where to go to find wildlife. Because the boat is so fast it... More

I got on the "Wild Horses" with captain Black Bart via reccomendation of someone that worked for the Sitka visitors organization. The tour was fantastic. Mitch got us up close and personal with almost every animal in the sound - whales, otters, eagles, puffins... too many to list here. His boat., the "Wild Horses" is a beauty - clean, sharp... More

Captain Bart runs a small outfit with a maximum of 6 guests on his boat which allowed him to give us a personal narration about the humpback whales, sea otters, sea lions, porpoise, harbor seals, bald eagles, seabirds and other wildlife we would see on our tour and enabled him to answer questions in great detail. This private experience made... More
