Jim Seeland took us out for wildlife viewing, even though there were only two of us, both senior citizens with slight mobility problems. We saw many whales, sea otters and sea birds. We also got to see St. Lazaria island at low tide, and were most impressed with the beauty of this little island and the purple and orange starfish... More

Went out on a "3 Hour Tour" with Captain Jim Seeland and had the time of our lives. We save sea otters, sea lions, whales, jelly fish, bald eagles and so much more. I could not have wished for a better tour guide, he took us to some wonderful wildlife areas where we even saw the elusive "BEAR. I can't... More

My husband and I sailed with one other person during our tour in Sitka. Captain Jim was attentive to our needs and wants and was very easy going. I enjoyed his comments about Sitka and the wildlife we were seeing, and it was also apparent that he truly wanted to meet the needs and wants of everyone onboard. Within 10... More

This private tour is just the best! I have been to the Alaska panhandle on three recent cruises and this is the only reason I would go yet again. Holland America goes to Sitka and it is well worth the trip. Sitka is not a jewelry store shopping haven. It is a real town and a very nice change from... More

The special thing about the tour that Jim Seeland offers is that is so personalised. Our tour was with another couple who had booked separately. Jim catered for everyone's interests including one of our group who was a very keen photographer. We saw whales, sea otters, seals, bald eagles and other bird species as well as interesting parts of Sitka... More

Booked my wildlife tour with Sitka Sound Tours based upon the positive reviews on TripAdvisor for August 27, 2014 as part of my Holland America Westerdam 7-day Alaska cruise. I had previously gone with another tour operator during a visit to Sitka, Alaska in 2009 but chose Captain Jim Seeland for this visit. Captain Seeland met myself and two other... More

On July 14, we toured Sitka Sound all morning with Jim. The two of us were fortunate - we were Jim's only scheduled passengers that morning. We wanted to see birds, rather than whales, so Jim took us in a different direction in the Sound from other boats. He is very knowledgeable and was incredibly successful in finding not only... More

Fantastic day out on the water with Captain Jim. The day started perfectly with Jim picking us up on the boat at our hotel dock. Within minutes at sea we had steller sea lions swimming with us. After a stop in the salmon farm where Jim explained brilliantly the ecosystem and all the different approaches to fishing in Alaskan waters... More

Jim found us the whales. They can be hard to find ,but jim knows what he is doing.Gives a tour and tlls history from his heart, not a scriped program.Very down to earth and not on a timetable. Can tell you the history of Sitka, about the wild life from his own experience.I would reccomend Jim to everyone!!

We decided to book a wild life tour with Jim instead of booking with the cruise line. We did see a few whales and some otters, and a few other animals. Keep in mind these are animals in the wild, so they are at a distance, but if you have a good camera you can zoom in on them. Jim... More
